Big Change to Cinderella's Royal Table. Good or Bad?

i consider it a change for the better... we enjoyed crt w/princesses, not as much w/the FG show... glad the princesses are back :)

I love it because we just booked our trip a few days ago for April 14 for six nights. I kept reading that I'd never be able to eat at the castle this late in the game.

Well, I just booked CRT for 5:20 dinner for us and Cinderalla will be there. Perfect for our first time as a family and I never got to eat there as a kid ......

I am a bit sad. My Dbf and I are celebrating our 4 years together in May and are planning a 4 day trip to the world. We are kicking it off with dinner in the castle the first night to be all "romantic". I was very excited about the whole CRT dinner experience and now am not so much..I didnt really want to have to stare at princesses all night. :-/ has anyone been to since Feb 7th that could tell me what its like now?

I don't mind a bit. Though FG is one of my fave characters to see, the dinner "show" was incredibly lame. Also, there wasn't the slightest bit of "romance" in the experience - just as many kids and general hullabaloo as there was at breakfast and lunch (we've done them all). It might be darker for dinner but it isn't less frenetic!

Sorry for posting this here, but I couldn't find the other few posts asking about how the "new" CRT dinner is.

Although it still looks like we don't have any reviews on the boards, I came across this one from allears, posted two days ago (2/9). It's only one review, so for what it's worth...

"Dinner was just not great. I have tried almost every rest. in my many visits. The food was just terrible...cold, and not tasty. The princesses continued to take several breaks. The breakfast was so much better."

Keep in mind, it seems like for every time someone gives a bad review/dislikes a restaurant, there is always someone who gives a good review/likes the restaurant. Wishful thinking!!!

We think it's a great idea as the prices are ridiculous for subpar food and service. So, with the addition of characters, it brings a little more value to that meal.

For us it changed CRT from a "Maybe someday" to something we won't even consider. It's not a huge loss to us. It would have been nice to eat in the castle, but there is no way I am paying that much money and have to deal with character grubbing.

That's just our opinion, and surely many will disagree with our point of view. So long as Disney keeps occupancy at 100% with the change, it's probably a winning choice for them.

I don't like it. We've done a couple dinners in the castle and I loved the set up. Seeing Cindy downstairs before, then having the "show" during the meal was perfect and magical. Having princesses come around to the table every few minutes - not as cool. Every now and then I'd rather sit and enjoy a meal in a nice atmosphere and get my kids to EAT but when the characters are swarming that just doesn't happen. The in and out of the chair, sign this sign that, take a photo...ugh. It gets old. I have done enough character meals to learn I really don't prefer them. Chef Mickey's is the only must do on our list and that's because it has more of a casual, party atmosphere (and that mouse has long lines to meet him :lmao:).

Aren't there other places that already do princess meals?

I'd found dinner at the castle to be very romantic. It won't be now.

Now I doubt I'd even bother with eating at the castle and it used to be my favorite dining spot:(

I'm surprised by this...I feel there are SO few princess dining options and TONS of romantic options. V&A's, Artist Pointe, Bistro, etc. But for princess dinner options that hit almost all of the princesses that AREN'T weird Norwegian food...well, not many that I know! We hated our food at Akershus (except for one of us who had some fab salmon) and we really don't like to eat heavy lunches, so our CRT meal last trip for lunch was really not enjoyed...the experience was, but not the food. We were not ready for such heavy food at noon. So I would be THRILLED to be able to have dinner with the princesses. There are still plenty of romantic options to be enjoyed at WDW.

Last year we did two meals at CRT, a lunh to see al of the princesses, and a dinner to see FG and the show. My family enjoyed the dinner better. DD loved seeing the mics and Fairy Godmother, and we found the atmosphere to be nicer.

I am sad to see the dinner change.

Hope someone can help. Is there a childs menu for dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table?

Me too, hopefully someone out there knows.

I found it!

Thank You Thank You - my youngest is very picky and thought we might not be able to do if couldn't find a menu he would eat off of. :cool1:

I am thrilled with the change. We have been limited to lunch and breakfast in the past. I couldn't justify the cost ($$$ or TS Credits). Now that the princesses will be there, we will be doing dinner in August. My DD 6 (7 when we get there) will be thrilled too.

I scheduled it for 8:30 hoping for a "romantic and beautiful setting" dinner with dh on our first trip w/o kiddos. That was before the change. Does anyone know if we tell our server that we'd like the princesses to skip us, if that is a possibility? I think we'd, as adults/no kids, feel very odd talking and getting pics with face characters.

I believe the above posted menu link is for the Cinderella Dinner at the GF, not the castle. This is so confusing, don't know why Disney made these two Cinderella dinners so easy to confuse. I was all excited for bread pudding at the castle, but didnt think it sounded right.

Yet another restaurant taken over by princesses.

I used to LOVE Akershus before it went all princess all the time.

I also had a wonderful al a carte dinner at the castle about 10 years ago way before princesses.

I was willing to give the preplated dinner a try, but now no way with all the princesses.
