Big Change at Princess Storybook Dining

I notice that the new package info lists that a credit card is required to secure the reservation. I made my reservation for May a few months ago when a credit card was not required. We are using the dining plan for it. So...what happens? Do I have to call and give my credit card number? Will they change it to a 2 credit restaurant?

Hmm. Odd. I made ressies at the 180 day mark for my January trip & was required to give a credit card back then. (August? Some where in there.) I was told it was due to the cancellation fee.

Aaaargh....
Why do they change a good thing.....I love Akershus....I go there a lot..
I don't NEED a photo every time:sad2:

a previous poster said it is still 1 TS credit...I don't think they
will change that.
Man.....there is obviously no "recession" in Disney:rolleyes1

I called yesterday and made ressie for May... they did not ask me for a credit card and never said anything about 2 tickets for one meal... maybe I should call back??

Doh, subscribing and hoping this does not turn into a 2 credit meal as we have ADR's for breakfast ON the 27th! This could be a good thing if they include the photo, but there is no way I'm spending two credits for this, should it be the case. We really like Norway, and would hate to not go there, but I agree that is is no way a 2 credit meal. Would have done CRT over it if this is the case.

Here's hoping it's not.

I'm surprised anyone was able to make ADRs without a credit card guarantee for PSB. We've always had to leave one, including the reservation I just made for August 2!

I don't think they would be able to change it to a 2ts credit without advance notice.

The other ADR I'm worried about is Tutto Italia - does anyone know when that's scheduled to close for renovations?

Agreed. We have made 2 reservations, over the past 2 years, and have ALWAYS had to give a CC#. I believe it was with a 48 hour cancellation policy. Possibly, using dining plan credit(s), it may be a different situation??

Yeah, wanted to add that to my post as well. The past two times, over the past two years, we have had to leave a CC# for Akershush as well. That part is definitely NOT new. :)

I'm not really surprised. Lots of families booked this as a cheaper alternative to CRT, that was too good to last. God forbid a kid got to have breakfast with the princesses without it costing the family a hundred bucks.:sad2:

How long until they get rid of the Norwegian food and replace it with cinnamon sticks ? (not that I have anything against cinnamon sticks popcorn:: )

I'm kind of annoyed too. I haven't made an ADR here yet but am considering it for our next trip. We ate breakfast at the castle last time and were not impressed. The food was okay and the location was great but we had to stand in line forever for a crummy picture with Cinderella. By the time we actually got to breakfast the kids were both antsy from standing in line so long. I would rather just take the pictures ourselves and have the meal be a little cheaper and not have to stand in another line.

Well, I'm glad that I won the fight with DH about having breakfast there during our Easter trip. :cool1: It will probably be our first and last time. We booked there instead of CRT because our DD wants to eat with the princesses and I was not about to shell out $$$$! Are they trying to get us to eat offsite??:confused3

We weren't impressed with the food when we went, so we won't be going back. But the whole picture thing drives me nuts. If Disney is going to include a picture into a package, then they need to ensure that those photographers are trained and know how to take a good picture. Things like this and the Grand Floridian photo shoots drive me crazy. If you're going to pay extra, you should be ensured a good photographic result.

When we went, my MIL wanted to buy their picture, but asked to look at my camera first. My picture was much better than theirs, so she didn't buy theirs. I would expect their photographers to have more training and to ensure that decent pictures are given to the customers.

I think Walt would be turning over in his grave if he knew what they are doing to his "dream"
Don't kid yourself. I'm reading Gabler's biography of Walt right now. The whole "Uncle Walt" thing? A facade. Roy was definitely the more frugal of the two, and Walt was clearly the "vision guy", but Walt was also a businessman.

my boys at least would be happy if it went to 2 credits. that would mean they would get to eat CS with mom while just dad took their sister to the princesses. ya know, cause the boys are SO excited about all that princess stuff. :lmao:

ok - we have a ADR for May... on the DDP its marked as a 1 credit meal... can they change that now??? we have our meals planed on the credits in the bourchure... we are on the DULX plan... We were NOT asked for a CC for the Askerhaus... we were only for CRT & Bippity Boppity Boutique

I think the picture thing is great... :)

Has anyone called Disney to find out for sure what is going on????

I agree with the other posters that say they do this meal instead of CRT. If it goes to 2 credits we won't be doing this one! I didn't feel that CRT was worth 2 credits and that was in the castle! We have been twice to Askerhaus once for dinner and once for breakfast and both times the pictures were terrible! No problem declining those! Oh, and both times we had to leave a CC# in case of cancelation (we were on the DDP both times).

I first saw this on another board I go to and I thought there was something wrong with me because I was the only one that thought it was a bad change. I guess I didn't drink the kool aid. :lmao: I agree that the pictures are horrid they are rushed and most of the time they didn't even bother to take the picture with both of my girls looking at the camera. This particular place was crazy busy and the pictures were extremely rushed. My dh took a better picture as well. So this price increase means that Norway is about 4 to 5 bucks cheaper than CRT.

I would bet that it will eventually move to a 2 TS. Why wouldn't it? This was probably our worst meal of the trip (the food and service was sub par) the only good thing was meeting the princesses and even then Snow White the night we went was in a grumpy mood. She barely stopped by for a picture with my girls. My older daughter even noticed and said what is wrong with Snow White she wasn't very nice. My little picked up on it too and too this day she makes sure she puts snow white (who is on one side of her pillow) on the bottom because she doesn't like her. She makes sure that Cinderella is on the top when she goes to sleep. Since my little one loves the princesses I was thinking of go here for breakfast next time.

Anyhow CRT prices were bad enough but at least it was at the Castle.

Oh well there is nothing you can do about it except not go but when you have a little one that loves the princesses it is hard. But maybe eating at CRT will be enough.

Our ADR for breakfast is 4/19, and most definitely had to leave a CC#. My CM was very nice, and she noted with every ADR how many TS credits it was. For April, obviously before the change, she noted that breakfast was 1 TS credit.

And, since we have touched on the subject of affordability, I have to note that if we were not on the DDP, I can't say that I would be willing to pay OOP for this. As much as DD (6) loves the princesses, she wouldn't know if she missed it. And its one thing to pay for the food and the experience, totally another to pay extra for a picture you may not want/need.
