Have just found out about this place whilst searching on the net & would love to go here.

Was just wondering if anyone had visited the Big Cat Rescue Sanctuary & what your thought on your visit was?
Which tour did you take? I ve seen they offer a few different ones, was thinking of doing the Day tour which lasts for 1 hour & 1/2

If anyones got any pics id love to see them

Thankyou :goodvibes

I found out about this place on Dibb last week, never heard of it before. Put it in my faves for future consideration.

We're planning a trip there this summer and doing the feeding tour

We have been visiting BCR since 2000 and were there again last November. My DW is an official sponsor of an American Bobcat called Raindance and a Syberian Lynx called Willow :yay:

It is an amazing place, totally dedicated to looking after Big Cats that have been rescued from all different kinds of places. The great thing is that the cats are allowed to remain "wild" in that there is no physical contact with keepers, volunteers etc. Their feeding is even programmed to keep this wild instinct within them.

They are kept in pens but when you see that some of them are over an acre in size you can appreciate that BCR is quite different to an ordinary zoo.

We have only taken the "standard" tour but, believe me, this still gives you plenty of opportunities to get up close to these animals. Each tour guide has loads of information to impart. I have dozens of photographs and, if I can work out how to post the best of them  , I will.

Please put BCR on your itinerary for your next trip. It is a worthwhile cause and your support will keep it operating for years to come.

It is situated just NW of Tampa Airport. Just stay on the Veterans Expressway and take a left onto Gunn Highway. It sits right behind McDonalds!!

We visited BCR in 2007 and went on a feeding tour.

We were impressed with what the centre are doing and it was very obvious that the cats were well looked after.

We spent about 2 hours on the tour and while the volunteers were feeding the cats, gave a good commentary about how the individual animals came to be at the centre etc.

There is also a gift shop with some nice souveniers.

I would recommend a visit as they do need your support in order to keep the centre going.

I ve been trying to research the sanctuary as much as possible & have found some incredible videos which they ve posted on Youtube. My mums a massive big Cat lover:love: , shes planning on going to India just to see Tigers so we figured taking her here would be a lovely surprise.
We re not going to tell her where we re going until we arrive there, i think the look on her face will be priceless.
Im surprised the Sanctuary is nt promoted more, i think if more people knew about it then they d try to visit. I only found out about it accidentally but am so glad i did:) .

We re going to do the Day Trip, i emailed them & apparently you dont need to prebook the tours. I think it ll be time def well spent & a cause the 3 of us whole heartedly support :thumbsup2

I'm going to check this place out on my next visit. It's advertised quite widely in the Tampa Bay area - I picked up a leaflet at an outlet mall in Bradenton last year and there was a poster for it at Tampa airport.
