There is a Big Boy about 3.5 miles east of DLR on Katella in the City of Orange. I don't know how much cab fare would be, but that doesn't seem too far for a taxi ride.

BTW, DW and I like Big Boy too. Mmmm...

One of the original Bob's Big Boys is in Burbank, probably 40 miles away, and that would be one expensive taxi ride. If you're intent on it you could do Metrolink/Red Line Subway to the Universal City stop, and that's a couple of miles from Bob's.

However, if you want a 40's drive-in experience complete with car hops on roller skates you could go to the recently opened Ruby's Diner on Lincoln near West Street in downtown Anaheim. You'd be eating in the diner of course unless you want to treat the taxi driver. ;)

Well It was really just pulling on my child hood memories. See I am up here In Seattle,WA growing up we had one just north of the city and probally In the late 70's they close up shop and never to be seen again here In the NW. Then a awhile back, on the food network I seen a show actually on's Bobs Big boy and they mention they had one near DL and I started to put 2 and 2 together and thought It would be great to relive a little child hood thing and show my DS(17yo) Big boys. Bob would be great but not neccery, just someting to scrath the old hart again:goodvibes. 3 or 4 miles no problem well worth the taxi fare. Thanks

There is one close on Harbor, well several blocks south of the park. Maybe walkable. I tell you how to find it. It's real simple and I usually don't think of this.

Go to www.bing.com/maps/ center it over your location and then search "big boy" in the search box. It gave me two around DLR.

The one on Katella and the one on Harbor. The one on Harbor is just onto the second major block south of DLR. So maybe a 3/4 mile from the park gates.

Big Boy's in Burbank is awesome! Too bad its so far from Disney...

As far as Ruby's goes, we have them here and it's just a more expensive diner option. Nothing to really rave about, IMO.

I would focus on finding spots that are specific to the area/region that you can't find at home. So something like Denny's is out! Yuck!:)

I highly, highly, highly suggest In N Out! They only have them in Ca, Arizona and Vegas- I think! It's fast food but it's amazing and if you're not from the area- you'll definately want to go!:thumbsup2

While in Cali, I eat here every chance I get. So bascially, whenever I'm not eating in the parks- you'll find me at In N Out!

And UT ~ but not super close to me yet - I haven't been! My dad loves In N Out.

Yes, I have fond memories of Bob's too. I can remember being in the back seat of our parents car while waiting in a line down the street to get into the original Bob's Big Boy drive-in in Glendale, on Colorado Blvd. That location is gone, but the one in Burbank remains. DW and I went there prior to a show at the Greek Theatre last year. Great stuff.
