Big announcement 10/4 on Main St!

You didn't miss much by not seeing it. It was neat for the family and lots of CM's got up very early to kick this off. You couldn't really tell what anyone was wearing.

No windows in the suite because they don't want the guest looking out at the park while work is going on. You know spoil the magic.

other than mom family looked dis-interested, even when oldest son was asked what his friends in school would think. They had a few clips from the family on space mt. so I don't think they were "stunned" by the announcement; got the keys when they came thu the gate

still, nice to see the reveal when the charactars appeared "magically".

One of the prizes for YOAMD is to be the grand marshall in all the Disney Paradea- they send you to each park- tokyo, paris, DL, ETC. and your family leads the afternoon parade in each one. THey pay ofr everything and give you spending $$ for food and souvies. One of the biggest prizes in YOAMD

It was overhyped here on the DIS. ABC and GMA certainly weren't promoting it like many people here.

Basically all I figured it would be; just the family getting the MK to themselves and meeting and greeting them.

I guess we will have to wait for the October 18th press event in New York City to see if Disney has any major announcements.

THIS family won't go up there, it wont be finished until January. GMA announced a separte contest that you can enter with them to stay in the cinderella suite for a week. You enter on abcnews.com- YOAMD is only giving away one night stays once the rooms are finished. And yes, as I understand it, they tell you that day and you stay there that night.
As far as windows are concerned- I can't imagine there are no windows at all- I saw the design sketches too and I believe there was a window by the beds, and another by the arm chair in the other room. Remember this was originally supposed to be an apartment for the Disney family- I'm sure it was designed with windows.

Finally, before I head off to work myself- take it easy on this family. I'm sure they got up very early and this was a very exciting and confusing day for them. How many times have you all been interviewed exclusively by GMA????- I'm sure there are a lot of teenage girls who would feel a little weird about getting so much attention. They seem like a very nice and deserving family and I'm sure they appreciate this once in a lifetime opportunity as much as the rest of us would. I'm very happy for them!

Actually, I think the biggest is the DVC ownership. They are giving away a couple of ownership contracts into SSR with all annual dues covered for the life of the contract - plus they give a cash award to cover the taxes!!

As for the GMA show, I wasn't expecting there to be any announcements on there. I mean how many GMA viewers would really care if a new DVC was announced? (A new park... maybe)

I was hoping for a huge announcement, but the best part of the whole clip was the sketches of what the suite will look like. Mostly, all I could think of the whole time was that the daughter wasn't ever smiling. It would of been nice if I DISer could've won.

Also, I went to ABCnews.com, to try and enter the contest for the trip to be the first to stay in the suite, but I couldn't find a link. Could anyone post the link here?

I am glad I watched GMA this morning though, they had a Lost thing on to, and there were several interviews.

You can send in postcards, daily to try and win stuff from home. Some prizes like the night's stay in the Castle cannot be won from home.

Just got done watching our recording of GMA this morning. How exciting for that family. I would have been totally flabbergasted. I'm very happy happy for them. I will be entering by mailing a postcard every day. I would LOVE, LOVE to win the DVC ownership. I never enter any contests, but figured I don't have a chance if I don't enter. I read over the rules and participation eligibility; can my DH and I both enter each day? It didn't say one per household.

Does anyone else feel a little uncomfortable sending a 3x5 card with your name, home address, day number and date of the birth on the back - for all to see? Something tells me a "criminal" could really take advantage of that.

What makes it even more magical is that I hear as they got halfway down mainstreet all kinds of Characters and Castmembers ran out to greet them.

If anyone has Channel 13 News in Florida, they are about to do another segment on it. I think it was so cute as they entered the park the announcer said, "Welcome to YOUR Magic Kingdom."
