We want 1-2 epcot restaurants. Going to be us, our twin 5. Ye old boys and my parents. Deciding between coral reef, akershus (where we have been) and biergarten. None of us like German food but it sounds fun. Is the entertainment worth it? Looks like we can eat salads and Mac and cheese, schnitzel...(we have free dining)

I honestly didn't think I'd like the Biergarten at all. Have no interest in German food at all...

...but I've got to tell ya...

:thumbsup2

We had fun. DH loves the food, what's NOT to love about those huge beers, and your 5 year olds can Chicken Dance to their hearts content.

Biergarten is a fun time. The food and show are worth the visit. The show lasts about 45 minutes and really engages the whole audience.

I just took my family to Biergarten a week ago. The food was good. The pork roast not so wonderful (overcooked for me). I recommend getting a "radler" a mix of sprite and beer (yummy) and my daughter got a mix of different sodas. The music/atmosphere was fun. We danced all around the hall.

I was worried about the Biergarten for my DD8 and DS3, but they loved it!! They had to go dance on the dance floor and they really liked the food. The beef roulades were a big hit with both kids, as well as the apple strudel and vanilla pudding. They also liked the tomato salad and the cucumber salad, and of course the spatzels and the potato dumplings. DH thought the pork roast was one of the best he's ever had.

Another one to consider would be the Garden Grill at the Land Pavilion. It's a character meal with Mickey, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. It's also served family style, so you can stay at the table. The menu is a salad, platter of turkey, beef, and fish with mashed potatoes, rice, some veggies, and an apple-berry cobbler for dessert. The kids get chicken drumsticks, mac-n-cheese, sweet potato fries, and Mickey mousse for dessert. It's Dinner only.

We did both on our trip 3 weeks ago and had a great time at both meals!!

The food was very good. The entertainment was good. My husband had a great time. We met people from Holland and other parts of the US. You get seated with others at your table. Give Biergarten a try. Since you have free dining, you have nothing to lose!!

My Dh and kids love this place! I thought the food was ok, lots of fun though! Desserts are really good, the Bavarian cheesecake is so good! We will definitely go back!

Our Ratings of Biergarten: (rev 8/8/11)
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: B
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: C
. . . staff helpfulness: B
. . . characters: B (entertainment, not characters)

NOTE: Seating is on long beer-hall tables, so other families
will be seated with you. Although entertainment is at lunch and
dinner, the dinner show is far more fun. Not many get to see
Oom-Pah music and dancing, let alone be chosen to participate.
Although WDW likes to Americanize its food, Biergarten remains
relatively authentic. It is good, above average German comfort food.

We've been to Biergarten about 10 times in the past 12 years. My DS [now 15] loves the mac n' cheese. We love the food and the atmosphere. There is a great selection of German food but they have roasted chicken, a type of meatloaf, salmon, beef, schnitzel, and great desserts. The show is also entertaining and cheerful. We've been lucky to sit with great families. We sat with a really rude family one time but I just laughed because how in the world could you be so miserable at such a wonderful place. :confused3

Give it a try!

I will be the negative nelly.... I didn't like it at all. The food wasn't very good and I really hated being seated at a table with other people. The entertainment was... entertaining. I would have like it a lot better if the food was any good or if we had a large enough group to take up the whole table.

It's a WDW buffet, so there is an incredible variety of options. The cabbage salad is like cole slaw, but with an oil-and-vinegar (and dill) dressing. And if the adults want a huge beer (perhaps to share), you can order a "Maß" (pronounced "maahss"). It's fun!

Oy Oy Oy!!!

We LOVED Biergarten!!! It was so much fun. We were there for so long we saw two shows, LOL. My kids aren't picky, but I didn't know how they'd feel about German food. Well, my son (who eats so little) ate 3 franks on pretzel rolls, potatoes, breaded chicken cutlets and some veggies. My husband had the biggest beer EVER! We enjoyed the people we were seated with. Overall, it was a great, great experience.

If you don't like the idea of being seated at a table with complete strangers (literally elbow to elbow), then you shouldn't eat here. It didn't bother me, the food and beer are great, and we eat here every time we go to Disney.

We went and took my DS when he was almost 3. Let me preface this by saysing he is a pork/sausage lover would eat it all day everyday if able. That being said I thought Biergaten would be a no brainer for him. None of us were impressed with the food. He ate very little and my mom and I didn't eat much more than that. We both love all different types of food. We actually like the atmosphere and seating arangements we sat with a great family of 4.

Since we eat TS meals to get a good, not fast food meal in this was not a place I'll eat at again. Just my two cents.

Before we went I also said I don't like German food. In hindsight, I'm wondering why I said that. None of us like Brats or saurkraut but other than that, we really hadn't TRIED much German food and just equated German food with those couple of items. We quite enjoyed our meal there in August (we all skipped the brats and kraut and had PLENTY to eat).

Have you tried German food or are you just like I was and you're telling yourself you don't like it because of Brats?

Love German food and I would love to eat there unfortunately, majority rules and I can't get the nay-sayers to just go and give it a try! After these reviews, maybe I need to be part of someone else's family just for a day!

We're going in December - over Christmas. This too was on our list of lunch stops. I'm very worried about the food.. doesn't sound like something our family would be drawn too. That said, I still think it sounds like fun! A neat atmosphere that my kids would enjoy (ages 12, 10 and 7) If we choose to go, I think we'll be in the mind frame that the food will only be "average". Perhaps not a great attitude, but at least it will avoid dissapointment! lol

I was nervous too my first trip...Turns out it was for NO reason..The food was good, there was lots to choose from and my somewhat picky 5 yr old found PLENTY to eat and enjoy. We love it so much we go back every visit

We've been 3 times, twice sharing our table. Both times we sat with an older couple (over 50) and they enjoyed our kids and we all had a good time. It's about having a good time and enjoying a somewhat comparable experience you would have in a true hofbrau. The food has been good. Not amazingly awesome, but good. The pretzel bread rolls are awesome, the various meats great and the kraut average. I've had better at the local German joint here, but still good. The best part....the desserts! The bavarian cheese cake is amazing. I strongly recommend.

I will caution that you have a salad bar, but it's not just your traditional salad bar. They have various salads common in Germany. I would also recommend asking when the shows are you make sure you're there during the show.
