Biergarten - Yay or Nay???

I'm definitley in the minority, but I would say no. My DH and I ate there a little while back and we didn't like it at all.

So excited to read all of the yay responses! DD7 requested biergarten for our upcoming trip, and I've been a little nervous about it. Now i'm getting excited:banana:

We went there on our last trip. I was hesitant because I like to try new foods but am very nervous when it comes to trying them and wasn't sure I was going to like it. Not to mention, my oldest was only 4 and a very picky eater(still is).

I picked it mainly because my fiance is not a Disney fan(ik, i don't get it either) and I wanted to try to give him a fantastic time. Anyway, I figure that since he is half german(the other half is polish) he would love Biergarten.

Let me tell you, what a great choice! I liked most of the food, DS liked the mac and cheese stuff(not sure of the name) and my fiance LOVED it! I thought he was never going to stop eating!
We like the whole Oktoberfest theme and everything! We were seated next to a nice couple and on the other side was a family of 3 like us. Only the dad had apparently drank his way around EPCOT because he was very boisterous. They ended up leaving early cuz he got sick. Not at the table, thank God!

We are eating there again in a few weeks and when I told my fiance that i scored ressies for it, I thought he was gonna do back flips!:lmao:

We are planning on booking Biergarten and all the posts make it sound so fun. My husband picked this one from his list and he will be excited. He does'nt usually drink but, wants a Stein anyway hope they other family does'nt care when he starts drunken yodeling or German Opera which was his college major.

This was the only restaurant my hubby requested as a re-visit from our 2006 trip. We loved it and are very excited to be going back next Wednesday!

Thanks for all the positive responses. I've been to Munich twice and have loved every minute of my time spent at Hofbrauhaus - the food, the beer, the music. I know Biergarten won't be the same but hey close is better than none.

I admit I was reluctant about going our 1st trip in 2007. My husband (fiance) at the time, insisted on going since he was an army brat & grew up in Germany. Our kids DD14, DS13, DS9 & DS7 at time, are picky eaters & they loved it. It was my birthday too that day & the band got the entire restaurant to sing happy bithday to me. It was fun. The kids even got up & danced on the dance floor to the band. Great atmosphere.

We went back the following year for our honeymoon, this time I insisted on eating there.

We're going back to Disney in a couple weeks & will of course visit again. I recommend it highly. There is enough of a variety of food to fit every palette. Not to mention the pints of beer are a definate to quench any thirst.

The Biergarten is my favorite place to eat in all of Disney. That's the one place we always make reservations for when we go. In the 8 times we've been to Disney, we've gone there every time and we love it. And make sure to get the German sized beer, as opposed to the American size.

Will you get to see the band during an average dinner - presume they have scheduled showtimes? How long do they perform for?

Yes, you should. I've seen them do at least 2 sets during all of my times dining in the restaurant. I think they are 20 or so minutes apart in their sets, but I could be wrong on that.

Oktoberfest Musikanten
Experience the excitement of Oktoberfest with a festive dinner show in the Biergarten.

We all enjoyed this when we were there last month. There's a good selection of food at the buffet, so the grandparents should be able to find some things that they like. Our waitress was a dear...very personable. We sat with a young couple and had some pleasant conversation but most within our own group. We did the samples of 4 beers. The kids enjoyed the band and the dancing a lot, so for total atmosphere, I'd recommend Biergarten.
