Biergarten - Ya or No??

The party - Me, 31 ; DH 36 ; DS4 and DD6 weeks

I've got Biergarten booked and now I'm thinking it might be too "meaty". It's for the end of August when it's boiling and I'm not a sausage person really...

Any good/bad/ugly reviews of the place? I mainly thought the oompah band looked cool but now I'm wondering if I should go somewhere else in Epcot or somewhere else altogether.

Any opinions??

It is indeed VERY meaty - and sausagey. The buffet was tiny (two areas, but the same dishes repeated) and the side dishes were pretty much nonexistant. It isn't BAD food, but it isn't somewhere I'd go back to. And the aspect of having to get up and get your own food is never fun with a little baby. I found it rather - eh - when we went. The band was pretty good, but no one seemed to even notice that they were playing.

I tend to migrate toward the ones that are true table service restaurants - with servers who bring us our food. I have enough walking to do around the World Showcase .

I hear great things about Chefs de France and mixed reviews about Alfredo's and Teppanyaki - we love Le Cellier the best of all.

I wanted to come back to add that the pork roast was very dry, the braised beef was really fatty, and the apple streudel (which I was most looking forward to) was soggy. I did enjoy the sweet and sour cabbage best of all, though.

We are looking forward to the Kona Cafe for dinner this visit - the breakfasts were so amazingly good.

Biergarten is fantastic and sausage is not they only thing they eat in Germany, lol. Chicken, pork, wonderful salads and desserts, potatoes, etc. German food is comfort food, wonderful place for a family meal. You don't get much better in EPCOT.

germany food can be different if you are not use to it. i love the place but im german. there is alot of meat cold and hot salads spitzal potatoes the pretzel bread is awesome they have a kids cart with mac and cheese and chicken fingures the desserts are pudding black forest cake apple sturdal

I thought it was great, and I'm a vegetarian. There are a lot of meats other than sausage, too. I mostly ate the cold salads. The atmosphere is nice and dark and cool, so on a hot day with a cold drink you can leave the heat behind.

Another Biergarten fan here. Our 1st time there several yrs back, it was so-so. But after 2-3 trips myself and DD gave it a whirl again. It has become a fav of ours. There are many salads and hot veggies on the buffet. And sausages arent the only meats on there either. The chicken schnitzel is wonderfully mouth watering! And it is a cool place to get outta the heat.

Well, I say definately a great place to eat, but then again, I am German and grew up eating some real German food. It is very "meaty" as I saw it described here and I can definately see it wouldn't be for everyone. I definately would NOT recommend it for picky eaters. I would say if you have doubts about it, skip on to something safer.

I love Biergarten! Yes, there mighte be plenty of meat, but their creamy cucumber salard is one of my favorite dishes in the entire World. Go and enjoy the filling food, the cold beer, and the lively entertainment. (I do suppose being German-American predestines me to having a good time, though!)

I tried this place 10 years ago with dh. Maybe will try again sometime. I am not a "wurst" type person, so I ate some noodles. I am fairly adventurous, but the flavors of all the food were similar and not to my liking. Plus, the smell of sauerkraut brings back bad memories! There are so many places I love, and places I have yet to try, this one is just not high on the list!

The Snitzel is great w/ the Bryan Sauce, yummy! Try it, I recommend it.

My thoughts on this restaurant is that it's the typical German buffet- you can get this at any German restaurant. I haven't heard rave reviews on any specific dish, and we went a long time ago ( maybe 10 years?). I remember it being good, but at Disney I'd rather try something else that gets rave reviews or really has a great atmosphere (ie Le Cellier or Coral Reef, etc).

I've never been to the Biergarten, but it's on my list for our next visit. The DW's father was there last summer and really enjoyed it. You may wonder why that matters. The reason is he practically despises WDW, but one of the few things he enjoyed was the Biergarten food and atmosphere. If he says it's not bad, it's gotta be great.

We really like the Biergarten! It's one of our favorites. There's plenty of variety to have something for everyone and the entertainment is tons of fun. Not to mention, the food is very good!

Der Biergarten ist sehr gut!

The atmosphere is wonderful, the band is very entertaining, and the food is fantastic. It isn't just sausage. There was roast chicken, chicken schnitzel (pounded chicken breasts, lightly breaded and fried - usually made from veal or pork, but the Biergarten does chicken schnitzel and it is amazing). There are vegetables, aslo. Many Americans forget that much of "our" food is based upon or is still entirely European - especially German (and many foods we consider "English" are actually German, as well). So chances are you will find many familiar flavors in German food.

Check out allearsnet.com to be sure, but I am pretty certain that there was a children's section that had mac n' cheese, pizza, chicken fingers, etc.
