Biergarten walk up?

What do you think? I was at Biergarten yesterday for lunch. We had reservations for 1, were seated at 12:50ish, and stayed through two shows (so we left around 2:30? not sure).

All that time, there were empty tables throughout the restaurant. Not just empty seats, but maybe 2 or 3 empty tables at a time.

For my future reference, do you think that means a party withiut a lunch ADR could walk up and be seated? It might be helpful to know someday, especially if the skies open up at a time when my stomach starts to growl outside Karmell Kuche!

I've done both for lunch. I think it really depends on the time of year and the time you walk up. I've seen them turn walk ups away or offer than over an hour wait. I always say an ADR is always worth the gamble. Even same day ADR. I've been able to score same day ADR's for busy places hours before we went and it ensured us a seat. I use My Disney Experience app all the time for this.

Rather than try to get a walk up, I'd honestly just jump on the MDE app and see if there is an opening in the next few minutes. That way, I'm still following the WDW system but I also get to fill my belly with delicious German food ASAP! We did this often on our last trip, which was during a kind of slow week.

I have always walked up for Lunch and never had more than a 15 minute Wait.... Even FD times as we sometimes go late August but do not get FD as we own DVC. I will however warn that this place seems to getting more popular... There are always empty tables as they do not have enough servers for the Lunch times at all times of the year....

Any time I have eaten at Biergarten (always lunch) the restaurant is never more than half full, so a walk up should be no problem at all. I've also never recalled a time not seeing an open ADR for Biergarten, so you could always grab one on your phone just before you're ready to eat.

I have been able to, but it was a longer wait. Like an hour. Blech.

Nine Dragons, however, can seat almost immediately, almost all the time!

You may find walk up availability will be fewer and further between if you are traveling during a time when free dining is offered. They were not accepting dinner walk-ups last time we ate there, which fell during a Fall free dining promotion.

Depends on your party size. As you know Biergarten has communal seating. The wife and I have walked up many times for Lunch and Dinner and just got sat with the next party that was 6 or less. Most times that was maybe a 15-20 minute wait, the longest was approx 45 minutes.

This is what we did for Biergarten dinner in December and it worked out well.

So I think it's a great idea to jump on and get a last minute ADR, because even though you know there probably are empty tables or at least empty seats inside, a) it might not be so during F&W or as the place gains in popularity (curse you, word of mouth popularity!) and b) there not be enough servers.

Thank you for your experience and thoughts re this gem spot!

This place is definitely one I'm interested in trying, especially since I've been to the Hofbrau Haus in Munich
