My husband and I are at opposite ends of what we like to eat. I go lighter, he goes heavier. So all the meats and brauts and all that, he absolutely LOVES. He rolls out stuffed silly. Somehow, I, um, do the same thing and I eat totally different from what he does. The great thing about a buffet is that you can just look at the food and decide if it's something you might like, take one piece or spoonful of it, put it on your plate, move on to the next item, and once the plate is full, you go back to your table and try things. If you don't like it, you leave it on your plate and eat what you do like. Then, you go back for what you like and keep repeating.
I will offer one huge piece of advice - don't wait until the end to get your desserts. I always have one plate of "real food" and one plate of desserts at the table during the meal.

Also I am not much of a dessert person but I believe the bavarian cheesecake won for desserts on our trip.
