Biergarten questions

You guys convinced us!!!

When go back (2020 :() we are staying at Yacht Club and I think I'll make Biergarten our first night dinner. Sounds like a great, fun way to start off the trip!

If you see us, talk! We are very friendly. :)

We did this many times as a couple and we sat with friendly people and not so friendly people. Families and other couples and we always enjoyed our meals. If others engaged we had a great conversation. If we got the vibe they rather talk among themselves we respected that and kept to ourselves. We just liked the opportunity to talk to strangers on our Disney trip....part of the fun of meeting people from all over the country and the world! The last time we did biergarten we had our four little kids and grandma so as a party of seven we did have our own table. We booked it this August as a family of 6 so I’m thinking we will be paired up with a party of two. It would be great if the hostess could tell if that party of two was a a couple or friends who don’t mind Kids or maybe even a single parent with a kid! It seems kind of unfair if they placed a couple or friends who rather dine without kids.

You make a good point about some people not wanting to sit with someone else's kids. But the people who work at Biergarten are from Germany so they won't think like that. Most of the world teaches their kids to behave at the table, especially in public. My whole family is from eastern Europe and trust me, that kind of upbringing is standard.

DH and I will be dining at Biergarten in about 3 weeks. We were there once about 20 years ago and really enjoyed it. Glad to know most people still like it. We at not normally overly talkative with strangers, but we are polite and friendly. We also don't mind sitting with kids or someone with special needs. Seems kind of silly for someone to go to a restaurant in a Disney park if children are a problem for you. And we will be ordering a beer, maybe even 2.:drinking1

You would be seated as you come, so not that they would necessarily wait for parties to arrive to fill a table. So I would presume as some leave others will be seated.

We've always had them seat the whole table at once. They never sat anyone else at the table mid-meal, either, if another party finished early.

I'm not sure you worded this the way you meant it to come across...

We have eaten here almost every trip. We love the atmosphere and have yet to have a bad experience being seated with another family. We were just there this past weekend and were seated with another group of all adults (kids were on their band/orchestra trip and didn't join us) and we chatted briefly and ate. It was pleasant all around. Mostly we have exchanged pleasantries and chatted a little with everyone we have been seated with and it wasn't awkward at all. We have always enjoyed the food. Even my vegetarian daughter find something yummy to eat. We really love the Pretzel Bread rolls. . . My son could live on those alone!

I meant it as in that part of the world, the children are taught good table manners and how to sit still and not be a nuisance to others. It would be very embarrassing to the parents if the kids acted up. So children, from a very young age, sit with the adults and behave themselves. This is just the "norm" for them. So people from Eastern Europe don't automatically think "dang, there is a kid at the table, I don't want to deal with that". They assume they are well behaved. Even being raised in America, table manners(and just general public behavior) was very important to the parents. Everybody I know grew up like that. Now, not so much.
