Going in November- myself and husband who eats anything, picky in-laws and picky 4 year old twins. Not on DP. Which do you think would be better for lunch? Thanks!

Wow, totally different places. If the kids like to dance around to music Biergarten would be fun for them and DH and I enjoy the "show" as well. You sit with other people at a longish table, sits 8 I think, so picky people may not like that as well as the food selections. I think Le Cellier is "safer."

Both are great choices for picky eaters as they both tend toward the "meat & potato" crowd. The buffet at the Biergarten will offer them the ability to pick and choose what they get, which might be nice. The buffet offers some basic items like chicken, potatoes, etc. along with the more traditional German fare.

I'd look at both menus here... http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm
See which one appeals more to your group. You really can't go wrong with either place!

of people worry about picky eaters at Biergarten. In my experience it's not a worry at all. I have picky kids and a wife who is not thrilled by sausages so she resisted Biergarten. When I finally won out everyone found plenty to eat.

The two restaurants are very different in atmosphere so you need to decide what you're looking for. Both can be loud but the band at Biergarten adds a little frivolity to the atmosphere and, as mentioned by PP, you may end up sitting with other people at the communal table. Sit down and be served versus a buffet.

Lots of differences but both can provide a good meal.

Thanks for the input... I was thinking that Biergarten may be more of a unique experience, and more fun for the kids, but I've heard great things about the food at Le Cellier, so still torn. It looks like it will probably work out about the same, as far as expense. Decisions, decisions...

I have never been to Biergarten but I've been to the Hoffbrau House in Munich :) Ok, really I wanted to tell you about Le Cellier - YUMMY!!! We were on the dining plan and that was a deal to go to Le Cellier. It was my husband, me, and our two young children this past April for dinner. The food was fabulous but it is a 'nice' restaurant and can be a bit more difficult to keep the kids in check. The food is also expensive. While I have not been to Epcot's Biergarten, I do know that type of restaurant and they can be more fun and active for the kids and you have to like the food but for my kids, they adore sausage & such so it would be fine.

If it were me, I'd determine what is most important and go with it. Doesn't help you, does it? :rotfl:

Never been to either but I'm always fascinated by requests to compare two completely different places to eat. Biergarten is for you. We go to Disney World to be entertained, not just to eat. Bring on the characters, the music, the dancing, etc.... Especially with young children, I don't expect them to sit at a table for 1 1/2+ hours and be bored at a restaurant.

Le Cellier -- boring, crowded, over-rated steak place (according to the majority of reviews). I assume you can get this at home.

Biergarten-- buffet (lots of food choices), music and dancing entertainment, lots of great reviews. Kids can get up and move around.

If you are already within your 90-day window your decision may have been made for you. Le Cellier tends to book up as soon as the reservation window opens. It is that popular. If you are still on the fence I'd try to book a Le Cellier ADR now and then switch it for Biergarten (easier to get) if you decide to go there.

Well, I think that you guys would have more fun at Biergarten for the atmosphere. However, I personally prefer the food at Le Cellier ( and think there's probably a better chance for finicky eaters ). That being said, we ate at both with our finicky 9 year old last year, and he was able to find enough to eat at both places.

I know... it's like comparing apples and oranges. The reasoning is that Chinese restaurants, Japanese hibachis, Italian and Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen where I live, therefore I did not really consider those Epcot options. The only time I have eaten German food was at Biergarten as a kid, I don't remember the food but I remember having fun.
I actually had originally made ADR's at Biergarten, but cancelled and made them at Le Cellier instead because of the kids menu and the "safer" options but am still on the fence. Is Le Cellier really THAT good compared to other steakhouses (on the level of Ruth Chris, Mortons, etc)? The prices don't look that bad to me if it's truely top quality, but would be expensive if it's like Outback or Lonestar.
Thanks again for all of your input!!! I'm so indecisive!!!

Well WE found Le Cellier to be very good. In fact, we avoided it for years since we ARE from Canada, we kinda felt silly going to the Canadian restaurant. I've found on these boards that the opinions do seem to vary however. As for Biergarten, it's a lot of sausage and schnitzel. but some good desserts too. If that helps. And like you say, lots of fun, our kids love the dance floor.

It's funny how different opinions can be.

We ate at Biergarten's last November. There were six of us and none of us are what you would consider picky eaters.

My DH thought it was just "okay."

I didn't like the food at all and had a hard time finding anything that didn't taste "twangy" (is that even a word?)

My DS and his wife thought it was "yucky."

My twin teenage boys hated it. (and they'll eat anything!)

The buffet is very disorganized, with people cutting in and out and no real line to it.

We did, however, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the atmosphere. We enjoyed the music and all the little kids dancing. So cute!

No, Le Cellier is nowhere near top quality compared to real high end steakhouses. The steaks, however are better than Outback or Lonestar. It is somewhere in between the two, and is very good for themepark food.

On my recent trip, I ate at (and reviewed) both. I have to say I enjoyed Biergarten a whole lot more. I have found that two major factors have influenced my enjoyment almost as much as the food, these are: my expectations and their service. I had high expectations of Le Cellier and got bad service; going into Biergarten, I did not know what to expect and it far exceeded my expectations and the service there was great.

I'll hop on the Biergarten band wagon. We have always had great experiences here. The food is delish and the entertainment top notch!

Wow.my family of four felt the same way (8/25/09)....I really didn't care for anything except a little bit of soup and I ate two pieces of bavarian cheesecake.
Atmosphere was great, you have to like german food to eat there...sorry..didn't like it.

Go with the Biergarten if folks are picky. While perfering Swabian cuisine when looking at German food, the available options are decent. Even so, many of the Canadian Pavilion offerings are also top notch, and can also placate a picky crowd.

Our toddler loved Le Cellier. The soup and pretzel bread seemed to be a big winner as did the ravioli we ordered. I would go there again in a heartbeat!

Wow, thanks everyone... seems to be completely split down the middle though. Think I'll hang on to my Le Cellier ADR's for now as it doesn't seem to hard to get into Biergarten. I think I'm going to have to make my husband or my in-laws to pick this one. I honestly think I would be happy at either place.

77 days and counting until my family's first Disney vacation!!! :yay:
