Biergarten or Chefs de France?

Having just eaten at both in August...

Chefs had good enough food, but certainly not anything like what we had in Paris. It was noisy and crowded, and the food was fine, but we didn't feel like we were in France. We were also practically elbow-to-elbow with the diners at the next table. I would go back again for lunch if the others in my party really wanted to, but it's too expensive and not special enough to make my list of restaurant choices. That's funny, too, as I'd really been looking forward to going to Chefs.

Biergarten was GREAT! We had been several times before and I wasn't really thrilled about going again, but DD16 wanted to, so we went. The food was terrific, there was an incredible variety, and the desserts were amazing! We sat at a table with three other couples, with the members of a couple sitting across the table from each other. We chatted some... where are you from, how long are you on vacation, that kind of thing... but were also able to just talk to each other much of the time. I didn't witness any tables full of drunks, and it clearly isn't a "beer hall." That might be the design of the building, but it is a restaurant, first and foremost. I think you will like it a lot!

I very much appreciate your review...I'm thinking I'm going to try and switch to the Biergarten! (Or Beer Garden as my DH keeps referring to it) None of us has eaten there so this sounds like a fun experience! THANKS! :worship:

We have ressies for Chefs! This will be our first time at Chefs de France but we have been to Biergarten and did not like it at all!

That makes perfect sense...thanks for sharing! DH's parents actually lived in Gertmany for a little while so I think I'm leaning more toward the Boergarten too. :thumbsup2

Your 3 year old will LOVE Biergarten, my DD(4) ranks it up there with Princess meals as her absolute favorite restaurant at WDW. She loves the band and getting out on the dance floor. I have a couple of friends whose little ones absolutely love Biergarten too. We have been to both with the inlaws and my inlaws would hands down pick Biergarten. Nothing wrong with Chefs and they like it, but they love Biergarten. My Mom would also pick Biergarten, she is German though so I'm sure that is a big part of her choice! DH's favorite WDW meal is Biergarten even though he also likes Chef's. I would pick Biergarten over Chef's too, but I like them both. To us, Chef's has good food, but there isn't really anything special about the restaurant itself (except Remy). The decor is standard restaurant. Biergarten has atmosphere, good food, and a fun show.

I'm showing my indecisive side. I currently have Coral Reef booked and have cancelled Biegarten...lol. Now I'm rethinking Biergarten again. I'm not just traveling with Dh and DD, but my step-mom and my dad. I'm not so sure my step-mom would like Biergarten. My dad and I used to live in Germany. I know I ate German food then but can't really remember it, but I know my dad enjoys it. I'm still checking for an opening for Le Cellier so who knows what I'll actually end up choosing.

I'm with you. I couldn't decide either. So we're doing Chefs de France for lunch at 12:00 and then Biergarten for dinner at 6:40. I can't wait to try the lobster bisque, ham and cheese sandwich, and profiteroles!!!

I would keep Coral Reef over the 2. It's our fave.
The fact you can still get numerous times at Chefs and Biergarten most days but Coral Reef and Le Cellier have long been unavailable speaks volumes.

Not always true...I've been able to walk up to Coral reef on my last few trips, and have never had a problem getting Le Cellier. Maybe I'm just lucky...at any rate, we're going for a few different experiences this time around. We've decided on Germany...I'm thinking the In Laws are going to like it. :thumbsup2

I have eaten at the Biergarten numerous times - at least 10+ times!!!

I have eaten by myself, with my wife, with my wife and family, and upwards of 17 in my party. NEVER have I seen anyone partake of too much alcohol. I have never found it unusually loud.

I have reservations for Nov. and will have them in April as well. If you like the food, you will like the atmosphere as well.

Add us to the Chefs fans. Biergarten was one & done for us. The food was way too heavy on the meat side for me, & that was just okay at best.

See, this concerned me at first but if you think about it, German food isn't for everyone so that's probably why it's less popular. It seems to get pretty good reviews on here. I see more positive things about it and less negative, but with Coral Reef, it seems that it gets pretty bad reviews lately. It's such a tough decision. My step-mom thinks we should take DD to Biergarten because she'll have more fun.

Beirgarten (spelling?) is awful! France is good- we're going there for lunch and rating off the pre-fix menu to see remy. I hear the Mac and cheese is good!
