Biergarten Lovers Only!

My favorite thing at the Biergarten was a dessert. I think it was called "florentine" It was kind of like a cookie with some raspberry jelly in it. Does anybody know what this is called or the recipe?:D

This is also my favorite. If I had a private jet, I'd be on my way just to get this. The waiter told me what it was & I forgot. I do remember him telling me that it is actually an Italian dessert - not German.

Not sure if this is the cookie you're talking about, but there is something called a Linzer tart. It's a cookie with raspberry jelly in the middle and topped with powdered sugar. That is very German!

I told my wife recently, if I had to pick one restaurant to eat at before I died, this would be the one. We go every year, even if we are not planning a day at Epcot. I have great flashbacks for my time in Germany with the Army. I have had some great conversations with the CM's there talking about where they were from. One regret, however, is that they used to have cold cuts and cheese at lunch. My first course at lunch was always a big sandwich made with the cold cuts, cheese and a brotchen. This was breakfast in Germany. Alas, at our last visit, this was no longer available. I like the Spaetzle with gravy, too. Just like mom used to make (and she made a mean Spaetzle). Their kraut is SUPERB! Not too bitey, SMOOOOOTH! And washing it down with a tall, cold Beck's - man, it doesn't get any better than that! Oops- got some drool on my keyboard!

We eat there every trip, usually our first night at Disneyworld. I love all the food, especially the pork. My husband loves it all. One of our favorite things, besides the food, is to get the LARGE beer. It's kind of a tradition. The other thing we love is Cast Member Sylvia. She is from Germany and is the BEST waitress. She is so pleasant to talk to. I have a picture of us with Sylvia that we took last trip. I was going to try to send it to her at the restaurant, but since we are getting to go for Christmas, I am hoping to deliver it personally. Here's hoping she will be working at least one day we are there.

I had to get in on this. My fav from our last visit is really a toss-up. Loved the spaetzle, pretzel rolls, and couldn't get enough of the cucumber salad! I don't know what all was in that, but I loved it. I was hesitant to try Biergarten because it does get a lot of so-so reviews, but am certainly glad that we did. It helps that we had the cutest server, Uli. Such a sweet guy. He spilled my sons schokolaten milkshake down my back, then toweled me off, and ran out in the torrential rain to grab me a new t-shirt! The show was so much fun, the food great. I know that we will definately be going back to eat here.

Am I the only one who particularly loves the red cabbage? I also love to put the vanilla pudding/sauce on any dessert. I asked DH his favorite, but he loves it all. He wasn't in the Army over there, but he did live there in college for 6 months. He also loves to try out his German when we go. Haven't gone for dinner yet, but never miss lunch when we go to WDW.
