Biergarten for Allergies and Picky Kids

Have a trip early next month. Was hoping the new Space restaurant would be open but not looking promising. Considering Biergarten. I think we would all enjoy the show a lot, but I’m not sure about the menu. My son has gluten and dairy allergies and both of my kids are pretty picky. Not big meat eaters. Are there any other options. Fries? Plain white rice and veggies?

Fellow gluten and dairy free person here! I love Biergarten for the ambience but I won’t lie, the majority of the food does have gluten or dairy in some form or another in it (pretzel bread, spaetzle, breaded schnitzels, Black Forest cake and so on). They do have the equivalent of boiled hot dogs and some potato dishes, but no fries. I’m not sure what kind of veggies you’re thinking about, but I did find the buffet pretty low on that front in past visits and just had a big salad plate. The Disney website does have a list of the foods offered, so you might want to check that too.

Not the best place for picky eaters. The most kid friendly food I can remember is a Mac n cheese like dish. There are some German cabbage salads and such but not a lot of veggies and no rice or fries (they do have roasted potatoes). Not sure what they offer in terms of an allergy menu but all Disney restaurants handle that well. It’s a fun place with a great atmosphere but my kids pretty much starved when we went last.

Would they eat roasted chicken and roasted potatoes?

My go-to source for allergy dining is Gluten Free Dairy Free WDW. They have menus and reviews and a yearly free guide to allergy eating at WDW. My family has multiple allergies and intolerances, so I have to do a lot of planning.

This is the Biergarten menu from 2017. I’m not sure how much has changed since then

The menu is huge in the Biergarten. Surely they can find something to eat in there!

It's my favorite at WDW.

I love Biergarten! But if I was going with non-meat eating picky eaters I would probably pick someplace else. The buffet is heavy on meats and starches if I remember correctly.

I love Biergarten, but not a good choice for picky eaters. I have taken all 3 of my boys over a couple different trips (ages 5-9) and none of them liked it. The atmosphere is fun, but the only food they would eat is the pretzel rolls. I thought (on more than one occasion) that they would like some of the meat. There are so many options that look like hotdogs, but nope. It's been a while, but if I remember correctly they didn't have typical kids items such as chicken strips and french fries. Even the kids area of the buffet was more adventurous.

Yeah, it's centered around meat and not to mention gluten in the breads.
I think the kids in my party all got pizza and were fine with it.
I'd suggest Via Napoli, or one of the ones in Mexico.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m sure my daughter could fill up on the pretzel rolls, but with my son not being able to have gluten, I just don’t think there will be enough there for him. I’ll make a reservation somewhere else.

I'm gluten free and I've eaten at Biergarten many, many times, in fact.... set to eat here again in May. We love it for the variety of food, the fact that it's a buffet so good for the big eaters (the men) and the atmosphere.
