biergarten food...

Nice food pics, La2kw!

Sometimes I wonder, though- do the non-obsessed, non-DIS folks ever wonder, "Why is that nutjob taking pictures of the food??!!??" :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yummy! Braised cabbage and beets :) I love German food.

We like to try new places each time we go, but the Biergarten is ALWAYS a must for us!!

We joke that we crave the food there when we're at home....and my nieces and nephews love it there too (especially the dancing)

Ah now I am hungry!

This is always a must for me! I do not care if I drag my entire group and they sit and watch me eat because we are going! I am an extremely picky eater and my girlfriends dad was in shock when he watched me clean not only one but 2 plates of food. At most I usually finish maybe a ½ of plate of food…..

We love this place! Once we visited once, every trip requires a dinner or lunch there-someone mentioned the tomato salad-it is awesome. My children even love eating there, but they recommend skipping the milk shakes.....apparently they are "german" made too and nothing like what my children are used too!

I don't believe that anyone has mentioned Rudesheimer Kaffee - an adult coffee beverage with Asbach Uralt. A Biergarten must for bavaria

Ah, we keep a few bottles of this stuff around the house all the time.

 I've never seen an American 'milkshake' in Germany unless at a Haagen Daz store, etc.

edited to add - I just realized why your kids don't like the 'milkshake'. We make them with fruit and milk, and sometimes honey. No ice cream.

I think of the term 'milk shake' in English as in the thick gooey drink in ice cream parlours.

The Asbach Uralt chocolates are wonderful as well, although I don't believe that they are sold much in North America. I always stock up on a trip to Germany as they go very very quickly!

thanks for all the info everyone (also for me to have the opportunity look like a perfect idiot! Danish from Denmark!! DUH Stacy!! UGH!) I think I'm gonna try for an ADR now that I know how much you all love it! It does sound like tons of fun! :)

Yes, that is what my children thought they would get-a thick ice cream based drink, not the same!
They do however love the music and dancing on the stage!!

Let me add our family's praise for Biergarten. It's probably our absolute favorite restaurant at WDW. We usually have two ADRs there during a stay.

A couple of other notes:
--the beer is wonderful, but if you like wine, try the German wines. They are not all "sweet", you can get a really good dry Riesling that's nice and light and goes great with your food. One time we ordered the wine instead of the beer and the CM said she was delighted to get to talk about German wines. . .
--I think the Biergarten has great cold salads--really good on a hot day (it's not all sausage and sauerbraten); I also really like their baked fish and their chicken and potatoes
--I have found the CMs here to be really wonderful, among the friendliest and nicest. We have fond memories of the CMs we've spoken with and the very fun oompah band entertainment.
