Biergarten Dinner review-March 23rd

On my first ever trip to Epcot (1986), my family ate here and I fell in love with it! Obviously, the menu has changed somewhat over the past 20 years. I remember a very thick, hearty bean soup they used to serve, with some very, very dark brown bread . . . yummy!

I ate here again on my last solo trip, and loved it again! It is a bit pricey (but pretty much everything at WDW is), but I plan to go back again on my next solo trip in January 2007.

Quick question for those who eat here more regularly: What are the 2 dark beers on the beer flight sampler? I had this last time, and LOVED one of the dark beers. I know you can get it in a 24 oz. size, which is what I will do next time, but I can't remember which one it was! Does anyone know, or is there somewhere I can see a listing of the beers offered? Thanks!

It seems that each time we go to EP, we promise to try someplace new, and then we start looking at menus, and the only place we can all agree upon is Biergarten. We love the food, the atmosphere, and the variety.

This summer, we ARE going to try someplace new!

I am also from wisconsin and have eaten at some of Milwaukee's best German restaurants. We LOVE the beirgarden. The food is almost Identical to the German cuisine at these restaurants. We make it a priority to eat there every time we go. :woohoo: :woohoo:

"Who ever heard of "spaetzel with cheese". If I want Mac and Cheese I can go to the corner deli."

I survived on eating "spaetzel with cheese" when I backpacked through Bavaria many years ago. "spaetzel mit kase" was my standard meal order.

I'm of German ancestry on my mom's side and I think "german" food depends on which area of Germany you hail.

That being said, we loved the Biergarten when we ate there last month. I think some of the food was "authenti" and some wasn't, but it was ok. Loved the desserts! And who cares about the food after having a liter of that beer! We met some nice folks at our table. After a beer, my dh and one of the men at our table were best buddies. We loved the band and I got to dance with dh and ds. It's a great place for families with young children b/c you can enjoy your meal while they dance. We had a great time!

We also love Biergarten! My husband is German and he was ready to eat there two nights in a row!! (I convinced him to try Italy for a change) I have been to Germany on vacation 3 times, including my honeymoon. My parents have lived in Germany for 3 years and they also love the Biergarten.
My point is, we have tried the "real deal" in Deutchland, and obviously it is better, but Epcot does a good runner up!
We haven't heard of spaetzle with cheese either. When we make ours for dinner, we pour brown gravy on top! Yum, Yum!
Sorry you had a bad experience there. Maybe next trip you could give it another shot. If not, there is plenty of other good eats in Epcot!

I love your post and thanks for explaining more clearly the spaetzle with cheese thing. Can you explain what kind of cheese this is and does it resemble mac and cheese? We are all spaetzle lovers here and i just bought a german spaetzle maker so we can enjoy it here. i too am of German ancestry(my great grandfather came over as a boy) and though I didnt grow up with spaetzle, I did grow up with things such as noodles, sauerkraut, potatoes and sausages.
Meeting new people is another thing we love so much about the Biergarten. We have never failed to have great conversation here...and the beer is wonderful! Truly authentic or not(and i do agree that its a regional thing, just like barbeque and other foods are here), the food is great!

IF the food is decent and the show is good sounds like a fun place
making adrs tomorrow!
