My family is going to Disney and Epcot in the month of December and we are visiting the abovemetioned restaurants during our stay. I am a little worried because I have heard Kevin and the Crew's comments about these restaurants, with the exception of akershus, being described as subpar. UG.
Is my selection too much of bad thing?

we enjoy the beirgarten, food is not real authentic german but the whole thing is fine, be ready to sit with others if you do not have a party of 8.

have not been to the akerhus since it went character, but for years this was the best value at disney and the food was great.

Agreed. In fact, there are a number of items which do not even appear in German cuisine; like most of WS restaurants the food has been modified for the American palate.

Macaroni and cheese is definitely not a German dish ;) ; we have Käsespätzle which are quite different. Sitting at Biergarten eating macaroni and cheese is not the same as sitting in my local Bavarian beergarden eating Allgäuer Käsespätzle. Nor is Wiener Schnitzel (from Austria, not Germany) made with chicken meat.

However, it does have a broad appeal and is a decent choice for those not necessarily seeking the authentic food experience but a good meal nonetheless.

There are so many reviews and so much information about every restaurant that it's easy to second guess your decisions.

If I recall the podcast correctly, their main beef with Biergarten was not liking German food in general (and the smell of sauerkraut :rotfl: ) Biergarten's food is pretty good (although not authentic) and the atmosphere and entertainment make for a fun, unique meal. If you have kids, they will love getting up on the dance floor while the band plays.

I haven't been to Akerhus since it became a character meal. . . however, from what I've read here, if you've got a little girl that must see princesses, Akerhus has lots of 'em, and is a much better deal than the pricey meal at the castle.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful vacation in December.

Beirgarten is amazing, for a ton of pics click on my March/April link

We loved Biergarten, with the exception of my husband who mistakenly ate some Pickled Herring. (Note: stay away from the Pickled Herring)
The entertainment is fun, the atmosphere is great, the beer flights are yummy, and my son and I ate our weight in sauerkraut.

We love Biergarten and go every other year; we tried Akershus last year for lunch--did not care for it and we tried Liberty Tree for lunch last year and it was very good--better than I expected.
