biergarten advice? best time to go??

Hi, we'll be spending the whole day at epcot (in may) and wanted to go to biergarten . What time of day would be the best to go ?? I was kinda thinking late lunch, early dinner?? Any advice????

we were at Biergarten in Sept at 5:30 pm.......we had a great table of people to sit with and the food and entertainment were fantastic......the food was filled on the buffet plenty of times and always hot...

Here's a restaurant that get great reviews. We ate here a few years back. (2 adults 2 teens)

Seating not bad, didn't think I'd like sitting with people I'd never meet. I enjoyed it very much.

Show, awesome.

Staff, excellent.

Food, Here's where it takes a thumbs down, not one of us enjoyed the food. Thought it was probably one of the worst buffets at Disney. We will not be returning.

You can check this site for showtimes. We made 5:30 ressies here last week for our last-minute Easter trip. They were one of the few places with availibility so I took it. I'm not all that familiar with German food so I guess I'll be trying something new!

We have been to Biergarten for lunch at least 5 times over the years. We typically go around 3pm and it has not been crowded, and usually see the show 1-2 times while dining. We love the food, but we are from midwest and have german heritage (maybe a factor?). We plan on going in May for our next trip!

We did a 5:30pm dinner a few weeks ago and it was great..i think they do the show every hour on the hour and it was fun..the kids had a blast, especially doing the chicken dance
We really enjoyed the food..but we also enjoy German food. The Sauerbraten ( i think they just list it as German Pot Roast) was very good the salads were good the Potato soup yummy, potato dumplings were good, red cabbage mmmmm and desserts were very good. LOL We actually thought it was one of the better dinner's we had all week ( and we visit WDW A LOT, and have been to almost all the restaurants..lol) But i guess you just have to like that kind of food.

Now you see, we're both from Cajun country and probably eat a lot of stuff that the rest of the US might find a bit ! I keep reading that the Biergarten is a good choice for picky eaters but the menu looks sooo strange to me. For example, what exactly are sauerbraten and spatzel? I just figure a couple of those ginormous beers and it won't matter.

My DW and I always make an ADR for 5:30 P.M. The buffet is nice and fresh, not that it usually isn't, and the restaurant's not crowded.

I keep reading that the Biergarten is a good choice for picky eaters but the menu looks sooo strange to me. For example, what exactly are sauerbraten and spatzel? I'm not a chef, but I hope this helps...
Spatzel is kind of a cross between a noodle and a dumpling. It's made from primarily flour, and is boiled in water.
Sauerbraten is a dish with meat(usually beef or pork roast) and a very specific sauce; tangy and gingersnap flavored. i know it sounds weird, but my mom used to make this when I was little and she flavored it with crushed up gingersnap cookies.

Even though it's old and a bit worn I insist on watching Impressions de France everytime we go to Epcot. Hubby and I will be there in May. We're staying in an apartment in the Marais and I'm so excited!

Sauerbraten is a dish with meat(usually beef or pork roast) and a very specific sauce; tangy and gingersnap flavored.

I'm PA Deutch, and have prepared sauerbraten and 'venisonbraten' many, many times. The sauerbraten is made by marinating beef for several days in a red wine (or vinegar) marinade which includes sugar, cloves & other spices. This c. four day process serves to tenderize and flavor the meat. The beef is then browned and slow roasted. It is typically served thin sliced and topped with a brown gravy (that includes elements of the strained marinade, combined with sour cream... and occassionally also thickened with crumbled ginger snap cookies). Good, hearty 'comfort food'.

Also wanted to add that we usually try to make our ADRs for Biergarten for c. 20 to 30 minutes prior to a scheduled show. That way we are usually seated, and have had the opportunity to get through the buffet line at least once, in time to sit and watch the band play while we eat. I loved the food at Biergarten, the spaetzle was good as was the german potato salad, I'm not sure what the nameof the breaded meat was I think schnitzel but it was delish. The carved roast pork was out of this world. The sausages were good too. I am not a choc,cake fan but the black forest cake rated seconds. I ate at 12:30 and caught a show at 1pm I will be back !!
