Biden does it again

It looks like Joe Biden is speaking out again. During a swearing in ceremony of senior staffers, Obama asked Biden to administer the oath. Before doing that Biden reached for a copy of the oath and made a comment about his memory not being as good as Justice Roberts. It seemed that Obama wasn't comfortable with that remark since you could see the wince on his face. Obama also gave Biden a tap on the elbow as if to tell him to move on.

Joe thinks lots of things are joke material or funny. You can always see it on Obama's face when he's less than thrilled. Be prepared to see that face a lot.

Honestly, I think that's one of Biden's more engaging qualities. Who of us hasn't said something we shouldn't have, innocently, or to get a cheap laugh. I know it doesn't bode well for someone in the public eye, but I do think it shows that he's pretty down to earth.

See, I don't see it as Biden "misspeaking". I don't think it's a "misspeak" on his part. It's an attempt at humour (one that I found funny). Bush, however, just plain messed up a lot in his public speaking. That's the difference i see. Bush was funny as well, and most of them I can pass off as him just being only semi-comfortable as a public speaker, but some of them...well...one has to wonder.

For example:

"So long as I'm the president, my measure of success is victory -- and success."
Makes me go...uh.....ok.

but

"I remember meeting a mother of a child who was abducted by the North Koreans right here in the Oval Office."
Makes me think...ok, his speechwriter needs to think of better sentence structure/word choice.

The distinction you are trying to make works in the context of this particular Biden gaffe, but he also has a long history of "just plain messing up a lot of his public speaking". Just like Bush. But we get it - he's a Democrat - so that's okay.

It was not a mis speak, Biden knew exactly what he was saying and it was a snide snippy comment directed at the Chief Justice. Obama wants to Govern and is making it known, there is no room for partisanship in his administration at that point in time

Biden will give the late night talk shows a ton of material over the next several years.

Personally, I dont' think he should have made the comment, and based upon President Obama's reaction he wasnt' happy with Biden's comment.
