Hello: We're thinking of going to WDW in Jan. and want to do some cycling. We like to ride about 25-30 miles. I know of some trails in the area, but the problem is We want to rent bikes(comfort/hybrid/mountain) for a week. The other thought was to buy biles around $100 and just donate them to ??? at the end of the week. Any suggest where we could rent/buy bikes? Thanks

Where are you planning on riding? There really isn't anywhere close on Disney property.

Celebration has some great bike trails and is a very friendly bike town. We love to ride our bikes there.

Hello: There are a couple of good trail near WDW but you need a car/van to get to them.. Are there any restriction to riding your bike on WDW roads(not the controlled access one but others like Beuna Vista Drive, Disney Vacation Club Way, Bonnet Creek Parkway or Vista Road? Thanks

WDW has always struck me as a very dangerous place to ride a bike -- way too many big buses on narrow roads, and way too many tourists who are not paying attention to where they are going, much less to some cyclist. I wouldn't bike there on a bet.

As you said, there are some very good trails, but they're an hour or so from WDW I think. If you google Florida Bike Trails, I think you'll get a PDF file with maps and descriptions.

I don't know where you could rent bikes, although there may be some places. As I'm sure you know, many bike shops have used bikes for sale and you might be able to find something decent at one of those. Also, WalMart and Target usually have decent cheap bikes that would be good enough for your purposes.

You can rent bikes at Wilderness Lodge and bike the area down to the campgrounds. The trails and roads in the area are nice.
Celebration at the end of World Drive has trails to bike, run and walk.

Santos trails near Ocala are good for mtn. biking but a little over an hour away. Lakeland has mtn bike trails and is a little closer, not sure but I think fairly technical. Also check out the Fla. Greenway Trail for a better way to get safe road miles. It should be close to Orlando with bike shops nearby. I am assuming you will be flying to Orlando but if I am wrong and you drive through Atlanta,Ga.let me know. I can hook you up with a couple of mtn. bikes and show you around my local trail, Chicopee Woods. About 20 miles of intermediate trails.Good luck with your search and its pretty cool that you would donate those bikes. :thumbsup2

I've seen signs on Vista Drive (that's the one that runs by the new fire station and SSR, right - not the old Community Drive (Disney Vacation Club Drive) that say no runners or bicycles beyond this point, about where DVC Drive intersects it. There are no bike lanes, lots of buses, lots of inexperienced drivers (haven't driven at WDW before) and lots of opportunities for accidents. I wouldn't chance it at WDW.
