I am really upset about this. I have been planning for the last 6 weeks my strategy. Now they're calling for a major snowstorm. If it truly hits they way they're calling for right now- they'll have driving bans so going out won't even be an option.
I guess we're supposed to get several feet starting tonight-Friday afternoon. Then starting tomorrow afternoon/early evening the winds are supposed to pick up and create white-outs and blizzard like conditions. Anyone living in snow knows this could mean 8ft snow drifts out of 2 feet of snow. I am just so mad right now!!

I'd be so upset too!!! I'm sorry!! :sad1:

Goodluck with the snow and I hope it doesn't hit too hard...

Maybe the stores in the area will have BF sales some other day? Afterall, this will hit stores in a big way when it comes to sales. If everything is forced to close, it might be in their best interest to hype up holiday shopping after the storm :confused3

I think it will hurt the stores terribly too around here. They are really strict around here about driving bans too. So, it's not like they'll even be able to open. I did just realize I can try some online deals if all else fails- it's just not the same.
Thanks for the good thoughts.

Some of the stores have online specials too, so check those out if you aren't able to drive.

Maggie

We still have some of the stores here that have not reopened since Katrina hit (i.e. Macy's and TRU are a couple).

We live in a great MI snowbelt, I hate Lake effect!!! Tomarrow is supposed to be horrid, tonight not much better as I am supposed to meet some friends for late night drinks 30 min away from my house. But 40 mile hr winds and 8 inches of snow might mean we dont get Thanksgiving dinner. Why did we chose to live in the country? I have to drive 10 miles through corn field (complete with drainage ditches :earseek: ) and then 35 miles on bare open nothingness highway. And I really want my pumpkin pie tomarrow!!!! I have given up on BF, they snow plows wont have the roads open to get there.

Well, I am from Northeast Ohio and we have the same forecast! We could get up to 2 feet of snow! We are in the Ohio snowbelt so we get alot. So far we only have a light dusting. Hopefully the weather won't be too bad.

budbeerlady (love the name by the way) :) We live about 1/2 away from any city. So if I wanted to do BF I would have to make it worth my gas to get there. :) But I am done Christmas shopping :) :) :) Ok, almost done, I still have to get something for my Dad and my FIL. Those 2 are always the hardest.

We are supposed to start tonight w/ a general snow- I guess lake effect won't start until around noon tomorrow and thats when the winds are gonna kick up too. We weren't planning on heading to my mom's until 3pm ish for dinner. Now it looks like we're heading out by 10-11 am. We want to be sure to make it there.
We're taking extra clothing and our dog in case we have to stay over. Hopefully, there won't be a driving ban and we can still try to do some shopping afterwards. DH has agreed to drive my sister and I- and mom is giving us her 4 wheel drive vehicle. After shopping we're supposed to be headed out of town later Friday to go visit dh's dd in Pittsburgh area. She is really looking forward to it- so I'm hoping the forecast is right and it starts to clear up by then. I don't want her little heart crushed either.

Sending pixie dust your way kilee! I hope you can make it shopping! :) :)
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

At least they know how to handle snow inyour area. If it even threatens to snow more than an inch in Philly, the whole city panics! Pixie dust to all of you in the path of the snowstorm. Stay safe and stay warm!

Well you can still get some stuff on line but I KNOW that is not what you had in mind. That is too bad. I live in Mass and have not looked at the tv yet. Who knows, we might be in the same boat. Maybe it will not pan out and you will be able to go. Good luck or maybe the retailers will make it Black Saturday!

Kilee, I live right down the road, in Brocton. Right now it really doesn't look to bad outside, it sounds horrible but there is not alot of snow for that nasty wind to push around right now. :)
So, if I wanted to shop tommorow and depending on where you want to go and which way you are headed( toward Fredonia or to Buffalo) you might have a chance. the latest update is calling for blizzard conditions our way, but much less toward Buffalo and like I stated, we really haven't gotten much.
Remember what they say: If you don't like the weather in Western NY, just wait a minute because it will change. :goodvibes
Hope you are able to get out and go shopping. Let us know what you got.
