I posted this on the big community board and haven't gotten much response. I know this is a long shot, but perhaps there are some guys over here who know about these toys. I'm trying to get DS a "cool" gift. I'm told these two items are really cool. I haven't a clue. Are any of your sons into these things?

I know my way around the Barbie aisle; pity I don't have a girl.

Beyblades are little spinning type toys - the kids use them for 'battles' - you get attack and defensive type beyblades. Take a look at Toys R US website (www.toysrus.com or www.toysrus.o.uk) - search for 'blades'. There are all kinds of accessories - launchers etc but they're quite cheap.
Be warned though they have just been banned at my boys school after someone got a cut and black eye after being hit by one in the playground. My boys have a few and play with them at home with no real problems.

Sorry but I have no idea what microcruisers are. My youngest son has all kind of micro cars, trucks etc - tiny little versions of the matchbox type vehicles which he has tiny little tracks for aswell - might be something similar.

Thanks Angela. Our local toysrus is out of both of these toys. I guess they're really popular this year. I found them at etoys and I guess I'm going to go ahead and order them. I just hate it when I purchase toys, and then they get played with for about three hours.

beyblades are massively popular at my daughters school too - and also pretty much sold out everywhere. She has asked for one, but I don't think she really knows what it is, she just knows they are 'cool', so I don't think she will be too disappointed.

Hi Steph - on one of our morning tv shows today they had their New York correspondent showing how difficult it is to get hold of the top three toys in the US this Xmas.

They were . . . wait for it . . . .

A robotic cat (white fluffy looking thing that sits and purrs when you pull its tail:eek:  )

Chicken Dance Elmo (an Elmo puppet that dances to the Chicken song . . arrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh)

A remote control Mini Cooper car

So, unless I'm very much mistaken, it'll be the Mini Cooper then for you (how terribly British, what-ho, a Mini Cooper!).

Good luck . . .:D

we were looking all over for that cat a couple of weeks ago, one of my scrapping friends was desperate for one for her daughter - so we had search parties all over the UK stalking Argos stores..... We did manage to find one eventually I am relieved to say. I think they are really creepy looking!

I love mini coopers Dazzle! Been trying to talk DH into selling his BMW and getting one. I'm not giving up my minivan. ;)

The Discovery Channel shop is selling a remote controlled mini cooper with the Union Jack and Old Glory on it. I almost bought it.

These microsizers are really little cars, like Matchbox, that zip around. Here's some links:

E-toys

You know, it must drive the buyers absolutely nuts trying to figure out which toy is going to be "the" toy every season. I mean who would have ever thought that stupid cat would be such a big deal? Probably a good thing I'm not a buyer.

LOL about the buyers Steph - they seem to miscalculate every year! A few years ago it was manic stations here for the Buzz Lightyear Toy? I can remember back to the 70's and waiting out in the freezing cold at 6am for one of the stall holders on the local market to arrive with my Star Wars figures that were 'the thing' that year for DS for his Christmas Present! Mad.........totally mad!

LOL

Bey Blades are like hens teeth around here - cant get them for love nor money!! That said I was in Argos a few weeks ago and they had just had a delivery and people were going mad to get them.
Toys r us was selling them for £9.99 when they are £5.99 every where else (although sold out) and people were actually paying it!!!

Ten pounds! Geez. They're $7.99 here. What a rip off.

Beyblades, DS asked for one of these about 3 weeks ago, we walked into one shop and they had loads to choose from!!, Do you have a Langleys toy shop near you?, they have them in stock, also Jarrolds, although this seems to be the craze at the moment, Norfolk seems to have loads of them!.

It's a relief, but strange when you have teenagers and you don't need to have to try to get the 'must have' toy for Xmas:eek:

I spent so many years going through this, from Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles' to Furbies to Teletubbies ;) I've panicked with the best of 'em!
