Beware the rip off............

Yes, but a larger IS a large! Our UK "large" really fit into the USA's "small" catergory!

Why buy UK chocolate when in the sates? of course its going to be expensive, the same as the OP's comments about beer at teh rose and Crown, its not a readily available product so of course has a premium price.

Local produced and sourced goods are going to be cheaper. I can never understand why people whereevr they go in the world want to have the same stuff as what they buy at home :confused3

I wasnt moaning about the prices, it was nice to have some english chocolate, alot of the us brands dont taste that nice.

Have you tried Hershey Caramel Kisses? They are the best!!!:love:

my daughter just had to buy a mars bar, i mean she just had/needed to have one :rotfl2:-bought it in old town kissimmee, cost her $2, no sooner did she have it in her hand, it was melting:rotfl: I saw them in walmart for 48 cents each, obviously walmart buy in bulk compared with the uk shop in old town.
I cant understand why people have to have uk goods in the usa, when in rome and all that!! regarding the price of beer in epcot, it doesnt matter where in the world you go, if its a tourist attraction/area the prices are higher, we all have a choice, buy it or dont, simple as that

If you are paying 1.99p per litre then you are being ripped off. On average petrol costs 101p per litre.

While I don't agree that the price of beer is a rip off I do think it's excessive.

Haha! I meant £1.19 lol Still a rip off. I don't agree it' excessive. I bought some lucky charms from the US to be delivered here and it cost me £6! Imports will always be more expensive. Wherever you are.

Not just that, but the bars the Americans call Milky Ways are essentially the same as our Mars bars, so you can get them even cheaper than that!

Just used an online conversion it says just over 19, not just shy of:confused3 19.21. Still not 20 though what Wiki says, were I got the info, maybe someone should edit it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pint
Still bigger than a US pint, I thought everything was bigger over there:goodvibes

Hee hee, yeah, it's America, it should be the law that everything is bigger, that's part of the joy of going there, lol. BTW, one ounce=30ml, therefore 19 ounces=570ml. One good old-fashioned British pint=568ml, so just a wee drop shy of 19 ounces. God, how anal am I, lol. PS Wayne, we are all really lucky to have you imparting your wealth of Disney knowledge to us, wanted to say a big thank you :-)

One of the problems with online calculators is that most of them don't know that not only are there differences between US and Imperial pints, but also differences between US and Imperial fluid ounces (just to add extra confusion to the mix!) and so typically they end up giving you the Imperial pint in US fluid ounces, thus messing up everyone's calculations.

Anyway, to attempt to out pedant everyone so far, US FO's are 29.57ml and there are 16 of them in a US pint (total = 473.2ml). Imperial FO's are slightly smaller at 28.41ml, but there are 20 of them in an Imperial pint (total = 568.3ml).

Now I need a drink after that - and I don't care what measurement it's in!

Thanks to all the replies; been away so just catching up.

Lots of valid points - it was as much the attitude I didnt like - smacked of "this is Disney, so expect it"......we did buy US beer, yes the excahnge rate counts, yes UK cinemas are a real con, yes maybe I should have just given it him back as we all have a choice..........I also agree that the Americans would poss be more bold in dealing with any dissatisfaction, and we come home for a chunter!

The other point was that on the friday morning we flew home, a ticket booth guy offered me tickets, but on explaining we were leaving he enquired what we had. I explained Disney 14 day flexi and Seaworld flex - I got 80 dollars and they only had a day or so left on them. I was pleased, he was pleased so everyone a winner................?

The Rose and Crown is awful, infact the whole UK pavillian is bad. Plus full of Brits getting drunk. It makes us all look bad.

I could. Though the idea of getting drunk in a theme park is awful. Did you notice the shop has football shirts in it I was so ashamed.

The shop in Italy also had football shirts in it too, why were you so ashamed.:confused3

Not everyone may like football but it is a massive part of our culture so I don't see what's wrong with selling the shirts :confused3 In the test track shop they sell baseball or basket shirts which is no different.

come on did you not think it would not be expensive.Me always check prices first as for R+C over rated and over priced
I like to have a drink with a meal in the parks but that's it till we get back to pool later on,and i still dont pay disney prices when we get back
Paulh

I agree, they are themed shops so it makes sense they would sell football shirts, they sold football shirts in other countries shops too. They definitely had them in the Italy shop as my brother brought a Milan shirt and a football from there. I think they had them in Germany too.

If Disney can make money from it and it doesn't offend, they'll sell it.

My issue with Football shirts is that it looks like our natural dress.

I was once told you can tell a brit by their football shirt and carrier bag. Lol. It didn't offend me, found it quite funny actually.

I have no interest in football and don't care if people want to wear football shirts at WDW or if Epcot sells them and I am certainly not embarrassed by it:confused3.

Also I don't think many British football fans people would buy British football teams shirts in Epcot.

oh and the biscuits they sell at the Germany shop you can get from Lidels for 60p over here.

:lmao::lmao: I must say that I love to have a look in the shops at the WS but we hardley ever buy anything!

I think that people being offended or embarrassed by the shops selling footbal shirts is a bit silly, as a PP said football is a huge part of the British culture so they are going to sell it there, why do they have fish and chips? - huge Brit tradition - brings in the $$$ I also recall them seling cricket whites in the UK shop but no one is complaining about that! ;)
