I got an email from "ebay" tonight telling me i've been outbid on a girls dress, looked VERY real but i am NOT bidding on anything on ebay so i knew it had to be fake. I forwarded it onto spoof@ebay.com. This is a new one on me, never rec'd a fake email like this. I usually get the ones about updating your info, etc. I am waiting for confirmation from ebay that it is spoof, but it HAS to be, like i said, i am not bidding on anything. I have a feeling if you click on any of the links, it will take you to your sign in screen and the originator of the email will get your ID/password. I cut and pasted the item no. into ebay search and nothing came up. In my newbie days, i would have definitely said wait a minute, and just clicked on the blue link. Just wanted to pass this on in case anyone else is targeted!!

Thanks for the heads up. The account info email thing happened to my girlfriend years ago just before she found out it was a fraud. Fortunately she realized it very quickly and was able to take the appropriate measures to protect her identity, but what a hassle. It is amazing what people will go through to take things they have no right to.
