BEWARE: Possible Chase Debit Card Scam

Just wanted to send a warning on a possible Chase Bank Card Scam. I got a weird text on my personal cell phone saying that my there was somthing going on with my Chase card.

Here is the verbiage from the text.

Your Chase prepaid debit card XXX-XXX has a pending alert. Call now toll free: 1-845-215-6053 and follow instructions to resolve this alert

I called from another cell phone that is in no way attached to my account and got a computer voice that stated your account has a suspension on it and to protect your privacy a live customer agent will not be available. It then asks for me to input my 16 digit card number. Of course, I hung up immediately.

The phone number is 845-215-6053. Do not call this number.

I got a call on my home number with a number to call back because of possible fraudulent activity. I didn't recognize the number given, so I called the number on the back of my card instead.

Sure enough, it WAS a legit call from Chase, but I just think you can't be too careful!~

Thanks very much for taking the time to post this. It's a little scary. Personally I would do the same thing that either you or the next poster did. However there are definitely people that would do exactly what the recording said to do (my mother in law). It's amazing the lengths people will go to trying to steal from others. People stink!!

My husband and I had the same experience a couple months back...I actually called my bank to inquire and they said the call did not come from them. They did take all of the information that I had (phone number and such) to investigate. But alos as a precaution cancelled my existing card and issued new ones. You can never be too careful with your money and identity info...

Did you contact CHASE< they TRACK that type stuff!

This morning I received an e-mail from "Chase" that there was a problem with my current payment and to click on the link. Yeah right! My balance is at zero. I just hate hackers like this; I had my e-mail compromised recently wherein it appears I sent e-mails to the majority of my contacts for everything from diet pills to ways to improve performance you know where. To all my sons teachers, too. We should hang them up by their little . . . fingers so they can't type anymore.

First thing I do when I get a text or call I'm not sure of, is to google the script. If its scammy, you will always find others talking about it on the web, or at least someone else asking your same question.

Or call Chase using the phone # on your statement. They will know for sure.
