I took advantage of upgrading to the Premier Disney due to the 5% bonus categories of gas, grocery and restaurants. I received my May statement and it was clearly off so I called Chase. She said marketing would get back to me. I received a letter from the marketing department that said the rewards were calculated correctly. Clearly not!! I had one life insurance premium charge of $2525 amongst many other 1% charges and my rewards for the "other" category was only $11.92. I spent a VERY frustating hour on the phone with Chase with a very snippy supervisor who insisted it was correct. Finally, he understood what I was saying and after a very long conversation credited my account $30. For all of the time I spent on this, phoning and recalculating it myself I can say it isn't worth it. Much less to say that I am paying $49 for this account. Be aware and CHECK YOUR REWARDS!!!

I also upgraded and received the extra bonus offer. Although my statements weren't exactly right every time, but the end of my 3 month promo period (over 4 statements since I upgraded in the middle of one), everything works out the way it should. I actually think I received a few extra points.

Customer service sometimes seems a little confused as to how it all works, but several people on the boards have had similar issues with bonus rewards points, but within a cycle or two of the end of the bonus period, it all seems to work itself out.

I upgraded about a week after it was introduced and my statement was off the first month but it was corrected and adjusted with the correct points the second statement. Seems like it takes a bit for it to work out but it did for me in the end.

I had an issue like this with Chase before, not with the Premier card though.

The way it was explained to me was that the dates for each month of the promotion, do not typically coincide with the start/end dates of your statement.
That is why subsequent statements usually straighten it out in the end.
This may or may not be what hapened with you, PP, but it may be a possibility.

I've had this experience with the 'regular' visa (and a promo 3 x or 5 x reward period). It's so frustrating - and you would think with the number of people calling and questioning it (and being frustrated) they would somehow fix it so everything lines up and is clear/ not confusing.

OP here. I have read that it does take a few cycle for the bonus categories to catch up for the reward points. My issue was the 1% "other" category. My $3800 in other purchases should not equate to $11.92 in rewards points. I am not sure that would have ever been calculated correctly. More frustrating was the supervisor. He just didn't get it. He even had to put me on hold to calculate 1% of $2525! It was more than frustrating. I'll receive my next billing statement in a couple of days and hope I do not have to go through this again!!!

Thanks for posting this. We were thinking of upgrading for the extra points but seems like it may not be worth it.

i am also thinking about upgrading, is it a simple upgrade you arent applying for a new cc are you?

Yes, it's a very simple process. You don't have to apply for a new card or anything like that - even your card number stays the same, they just send you a new version (maybe a different code on the back ).

So far, it's been worth it to us. We racked up a ton on points during our 3 month bonus period, enough to pay for a short trip in August. I guess it depends on how much you charge whether it's going to be worth it when it's only 2% rewards plus the $49 annual fee, but I think we will come out ahead.

And as I said previously, I think all the bonus rewards work out eventually. It may take an extra billing cycle, but it does work out. It has something to do with the way they calculate them since chances are you upgrade in the middle of a billing cycle - sort of like they are prorated - but I do think it all works out. :thumbsup2

thanks for the answer i didnt want to apply for a new cc... but i got a 100 upgrade offer, and i have a 5% for 3 months email.... 100 would actually be better for us..... ill do it soon :)

I upgraded at the beginning of May, since I had a DCL trip to payoff. I got an extra 167.00 in rewards..so I am happy. Mine were done correctly.

Mine took 2 cycles before it was all corrected. There is a long thread on here somewhere about how the rewards are calculated....it has something to do with the billing cycle being "off" from the monthly cycle. I waited until I had 2 statements and then went through and calculated everything. Mine was a little off by my calculations, but in my favor. :thumbsup2

In the end, the only thing that made this deal a super deal for us was because we went to disney and charged the whole trip, including our new AP's and some dining. This alone gave us a very large amount of rewards and made the deal worth it.

I don't have the Disney Premier Visa, but I have a Marriott Signature Card. My monthly bill cycle is the 15th through the 15th. However the rewards points are calculated on a calendar month cycle (Jan 1 - Jan 31, etc.). I think they make it so confusing on purpose to make it harder to track.
