I don't know what happened to my last posting, but here it goes again. My son found a razor blade in his pudding when we were dining at Animator's Palate on our October 11-18 cruise!

Was the pudding packaged or made on the ship. If it was made on the ship. How did a razor get in the pudding and what did Disney do about this. Someone would have to do a lot of explaining if that had happend to my child.

Again, I don't believe it!!! The mods must have removed your post because it was so far fetched.

The pudding was made on the ship. We don't know how it got there and the dining room staff could not tell us either. We have witnesses (the people dining with us that evening) to prove it happened. We also have letters from Disney risk management that it was investigated. If anyone would like proof, I have it. All I want to do is to warn other parents because I wouldn't want anyone to go through this. This was our 3rd cruise with Disney (the one before it - less than a year ago). We have no axe to grind with Disney and we were HUGE Disney fans before this happened.

Please explain this a bit more! Your child was brought a dish of pudding that had a razor blade in it? What kind of blade? How did he find it? Did he get injured? Was their a police investigation?

First, I don't think the original post should have been removed. This is (or should) be a forum to discuss the positives AND negatives of DCL. It doesn't need to be strictly a praise DCL site, Disney can handle that.

With that said, I'll repeat my original comment. I find it very hard to believe this happened. In the original post, the poster went on to say the CMs on DCL were very rude the rest of the cruise, and did nothing about this. THAT'S when I decided this was all bunk. If there was even an inkling that something like this happened, Disney would be all over it. And not even from a custer service prospective (although for Disney that would be reson enough), more from a legal prospective. They would have paper in front of you so fast...ask you right then and there to write down what had happened, throw a waiver of liabilty in your face...etc. The fact none of that happened tells me you have a bone to pick with Disney about something, or maybe you're even a disgruntled ex-Disney employee.

That may not be fair, but it's just so outrageous that I can't look at it any other way.

We are at dinner at AP for formal night and were dining with another family. I looked over and saw my son playing with a razor blade. I obviously took it from him. I went straight to P.J., the head waiter and told him about it. PJ took the razor blade from me and said "the animators use razor blades to sharpen their crayons." I told him that he wasn't listening to me, that my son found it and that was a problem. He went over to my son and started questioning him about it. My son, who is 5, repeated the story several times to PJ. PJ scolded him and said, "next time something like this happens, you should tell an adult" My son was very upset and didn't want to come back to dine with us. We went to guest services and told Maria (the head of guest services). She was nice about it and apologized but said she would look into and let us know what she found out. The next night, none of the management staff talked to us about it. The next night, another manager came over to check with us. I told him that I was still not happy and wanted to know what the investigation uncovered. He said he was not sure but that there was a report taken. We did not hear anything further. When we got back, I sent letters to the Disney executives demanding an explanation. I got a letter back from Risk Management stating that Disney is one of the only cruise lines that has an environmental team on board that watches food preparation. Still, we did not receive an explanation for why the razor blade was there NOR did we get an apology for the way our son was treated. The letter said they were glad noone was hurt. Well, we obviously are VERY GLAD our son was not hurt but our faith in Disney has been damaged beyond repair.

In your original post you said the head waiter screamed at your son. You said Disney did NOTHING when the "incident" happened and you said you were treated poorly the whole rest of the trip. Now you say it was investigated. Huh? This is why I don't believe your story.

"PJ took the razor blade from me and said "the animators use razor blades to sharpen their crayons."

I was not aware that there are animators working in the kitchen at Animator's Palate? I thought it was just the "theme" of the restaurant...silly me:crazy:

Nancy

Your son found the razor blade IN HIS PUDDING??!! and you were told the "animators" use razor blades to sharpen their crayons???HUH?? There are no animators in the restaurant. The only crayons I saw were for kids to play with. This makes no sense what so ever to me. How did he find it in his pudding? Why didn't you make a scene I sure would. I would demand a police investigation, a razor blade could cause serious damage, sorry this sounds really far fetched to me.

I looked over and saw my son playing with a razor blade.

So how do you go from this statement to "it was in my child's pudding?" The story seems to keep changing, which is why Disney (and probably many of us) don't believe it. Earlier you said nobody from Disney would respond, now you mention that Disney Risk Management and several CMs were involved.

Is it possible he found a razor on the floor? Certainly not ideal, but a far cry from intentionally putting it in a passenger's pudding. Or....considering how packing and unpacking goes on a trip, is it possible a loose blade fell into his shhirt pocket or something?

With due respect to what must have been a scary situation, I must say that these posts do not indicate in any way, other than the word of a 5 yo, that this razor blade indeed came out of the pudding. I have no reason to doubt that the 5 yo was playing with a razor blade in AP, and I won't even doubt in any way that he acquired it on board. But the link to the pudding, IMHO, has not yet been made--still a potentially scary story, but not one that has me up in arms about the food. Isn't it possible that he acquired it someplace else on board? Isn't it possible that DCL had nothing to do with it?

Well, there was no paper thrown in our face. It was very much kept quiet. From a legal standpoint, we don't have a claim because there was no injury (thank goodness). But, I agree from a PR standpoint, you would think they would do something. I don't want this situation to be kept quiet so that is why I am posting it. I don't appreciate my honesty being questioned. It is what happened. The strangers that sat with us at dinner can attest to it.

Ok....so the Disney animators working in a kitchen for some reason were sharpening their crayons with razor blades, and one of these blades ended up in pudding served to your son. Is that about right? You could be an Imagineer!

I am not going to keep defending myself. It is what happened. It was horrible and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

The sharpening crayon comment came from PJ, not me. The ship just came out of drydock so that is what he was giving me as an excuse.

What is the link between the razor balde and the pudding???

So your son had a razor blade... did he say he found it in the pudding? Could that have been something he said to avoid getting in trouble?

Was it a safety razor, with an edge on only one side, or a two sided blade?

Was there pudding on it? And if so, could it have come from a 5 year olds hands, as opposed being reomved froma serving of pudding? If it was in the pudding, I would think it would be covered in pudding, and or his hands and clothing would be coverred in the pudding he wiped off of it.

I have no faith in the veracity of this tale.

It could happen,

Once, a woman at Pier seven bought a cactus that had a nest of rattlesnakes in it. They paid her off to keep her quiet.

And then one time, in Band Camp.....

Jim

Than I would think the police would have to be involved. That could do serious damage to someone. What type of razor was it?How did your son find it in the pudding? Did he eat a scoop of it and see it? Why didn't he say "mom there is something in my pudding?" I teach preschool and the five year olds I work with get very upset if something is amiss in their snack I can't imagine them just playing with it.

In 15 days, I'm going to ask for some pudding and a shave!!!

I'll let you know how it goes..
