Beware of expiration date on rewards card!

I would call my CC company and start a dispute on that charge. It seems like you should have at least been given the opportunity to cancel. Actually, the whole thing sounds ridiculous, since you used it before it expired. The opportunity for vendor abuse this could create...

I could just see it now, "Sorry ma'am, I know you ordered X, Y and Z while they were on sale and there was free shipping, but by the time we posted it they weren't, so we just adjusted the charge to your credit card. Instead of $37.45, we charged you $81.88! Sorry, no returns!"

I would think you have a legitimate dispute for that charge. Good luck!

I would agree with the previous poster...it souns like you have a legit complaint! Do you have any verification of the order on 12/29? If so it might be helpful...maybe a confirmation of the order and what type of payment you used??? I'd still make the complaint...I mean it's not been that long...if you ordered it on 12/29 and have already received the merchadise and worn it...that is pretty quick...so why couldn't they be quicker with their posting of the reward card.

Hope it works out for ya! I'd hate to get stuck with that bill after knowing I had used my reward card. I"ve been a Disney Visa cardholder since it was introduced just for the 0% interest on trips, but in my personal experience that is the only thing that keeps the card in my wallet since the snafus we had...when we put our deposit for DVC on it (we're were on the DCL and only had 2 cards with us and no access to our bank) the DVC rep told us it would be the 0% interest free deal...got the first statement afterward and NO! We had a huge interest charged, even though we'd followed the card's requirements for that 0% deal. I did call and complain...the interest charge was removed, but we were told it did not qualify for the 0%...then the very next month that was the promo they ran...arrgh! I really don't like that card...

I've had the Disney Visa Card since it began and have been pretty dissappointed. I joined for the vague "vacation specials" that was promised.

I'm sorry but I haven't seen one package that is attractive or that even remotely fits our schedule. I'm not sure I'm going to hold onto it much longer or at best, stick it in a drawer.

Sorry, but I would never reccomend this card to anyone.

I canceled my Disney Visa after losing $150 in rewards dollars accumulated. I knew the card expired, but didn't realize the rewards did. I thought they carried over to a new card-Like a credit card. I guess my fault, since I didn't read the small print, but does anyone? Anyways, I was very upset, as I had been saving for a trip, and felt completely ripped off. I complained, but Disney could careless, so I immediately canceled the card. The poor customer service still bugs me!

I stopped using the Disney Visa for the same reason. I started using a Chase Total Rewards Card. The benefits are the same ($1.00 for every $100.00 spent) and every now and then I cash in the points for a $25.00 check and put the money in my "Mickey Account". The only thing I miss is seeing Mickey on the card every time I charge something !!!!

I would dispute it too. Sounds like Disney made their problem your problem.

Well I still enjoy the cards perks and I take advantage of all of them but I do read all the fine print because that how all the CC get you not just Disneys.
I have a few hundred sitting in my account and didn't transfer because of my card expiring .I bought some stuff but knew with going in june I would burn what ever was on it anyhow.

Me and my mom both carry the disney visa, strictly for the rewards. There is little else to be impressed about. We plan on buying disney money with our rewards that way we do not have to worry about the card expiring.

Just to clarify...Disney has nothing to do with the cc terms. If you are disappointed in the customer service, you should contact Chase, previously Bank One.

I do have to say that when I put $28 on my Rewards card that expired on Dec 31, there was a warning on the website that reminded me all the rewards would expire at the end of 2005. That said, I also would dispute the dates on the Disneydirect order.

So, I had about $100 left on my rewards card that expired December, 2005. So, I orded about $100 worth of stuff from Disney shopping on 12/29 to use the rest of the balance. When I called, they told me that since it didn't post until January 3rd, I could not use my rewards card b/c it had expired.

That's crazy! It's not like you waited until after 5pm on Friday night, the 30th, to do the transaction!!! COMPLETELY their fault, in my opinion!!! At the very least, I'd send the clothes back.....and insist on a refund.

I honestly don't see how this is Chase's issue. It is definitely a DisneyShopping.com issue. How are you supposed to know that they don't process their payments in "real time". I would call DisneyShopping.com, ask for a supervisor and explain the situation first. If you do not get satisfaction from them, then I would call Chase and file a chargeback. Good Luck!

We love having the Disney Visa. When we know we are going, we start putting things like the airline tickets on it, and we even put the DVC purchase on it. There is an expiration date on the card, and also on the monthly statement. When we went in Dec., we had $192 to spend on souvenirs and meals.

As far as the OP goes, I agree that finding the original order and calling back to dispute the dates the charges were made, makes the most sense.

If she purchased on disneyshopping.com, they immediately place a hold on the cc account for that amount. Chase then posts the charge to the account usually within 48 hours. It's the same for any cc or debit transaction, so that it why I don't feel that it is Disney's fault. They would not have allowed the purchase to be made if the funds weren't there and the funds are provided by Chase.

This is why I called and ordered a new rewards card back in November and transferred the dollars on the card that was expiring to it. I knew we were going to WDW in late December, but just felt better seeing 12/31/06 on there instead of 2005 date. It was not a problem to transfer them and the new card arrived pretty quickly. And, I had no issues using the reward card at WDW this time either. My only problem with the card is it seems to take so long to recover any credits....I use it often and basically make payments at least once a week, so I never carry forward a balance. It still takes a while for those rewards to get posted, especially the bonus ones. Overall though, any extra money we have to spend through the card is always welcome.

My fault, but our rewards card expired 12/05. I am leaving 1/12 for the weekend at WDW. When I called the rewards number, they were very clear on the fact that the only way to get my rewards is to have a new card which cannot be mailed to me at home before I leave. The person I spoke with, however, was very kind to suggest that I have the new card mailed to me at my resort and pick it up there upon arrival. I appreciated her suggestion; let's hope I get the card on time to use it before I leave.

Well, it looks like I'm out of luck. No one wants to or can help me. I have called Chase and they told me to call the rewards line and the merchant (disney shopping). I did both and they told me to call Chase. I have put in a dispute with Chase, but it does not sound like they will do anything. Just another Disney Visa card dissapointment. I guess I will end up chalking it up with an expensive lessoned learned. Thanks for all your help!

SO sorry to hear that...I'd chalk it up to a lesson learned, but I'm still not sure what the lesson is!!!!!! :confused3
