I received my shipment today from mousepinsonline.com. I was a little disappointed with my order. I ordered a 50 pin grab bag. I figured that I might get a couple of duplicates, but no problem I have two kids so they each can get one. No, no, no. I get several duplicates!
Each one of these are the exact same pins!
8 Zazu pins
4 Minnie Mouse pins
5 Mickey Mouse Pins
2 Minnie Mouse pins
2 Mickey Mouse Pins
2 Donald Duck Pins
That is 23 pins! So almost half of my pins are duplicates. Now it is not such a big deal since you trade them off, but it is a little frustrating. I wanted my kids to get different pins to choose.
We have already decided that the Zazu pins will go in the backpack and will be the first to be traded. Who needs 4 Zazu pins a piece? We will keep them in our backpack and after we make a trade, we'll slap another one on the ol' lanyard.
I know that this isn't the biggest deal, but wanted to let others know about it. Some people purchase these pins just for themselves. I wouldn't want to see them get ripped off.

 Only 153 more days till we see THE Mouse!

This is a great lesson for people bidding on stuff at any auction site - or buying from any on-ling offer. Be sure you know what you are really buying beforehand. Thanks for sharing so that people can be more aware of this.

Because of all the tips on the pin trading threads I didn't buy from mousepins. They don't show you exactly what comes in a lot. I bought 4 pins from a reputable seller on ebay and paid about $14.00. I plan to buy some more before we go to disney. At least with the ebay pins I can choose what I want and can see exactly what it will look like.

:tinker:

Not trying to do a commercial or anything, but I used www.pinseller.com and had a great experience.

It was $75 for a grab bag of 25 genuine Disney pins. She guaranteed that no more than 2 or 3 of the pins would be duplicates, and that there would also be a few CM pins and a few limited edition pins. We really didn't care about any of that, since I was getting them for the sole purpose of giving my kids pins to trade, in preparation for our trip, at a reasonable cost. Sure, I felt like a fool shelling out around $80 (including shipping) for a bunch of Disney pins, but I quickly realized that buying them for about $3 each was WAAAAY better'n buying 'em for $8 or $10 each at the parks just to trade them away.

It was great, and we even kept a few without trading them. I insisted on keeping the Mission:Space FASTPASS pin.:woohoo:

You can choose which pins you wish to obtain on mousepins, they just cost 25 cents more each ($2.00 versus $1.75 + shipping). If you are planning on trading the pins anyway, why would you care if your received duplicates? :confused3

I am a happy customer of mousepins. Just my opinion.

Me too! I have ordered from them many times.

I was going to use mousepins for my sons presents and thought wow we really don't need all those dups -but you made me think of it differently when we went to disneyworld in 2007 I was so upset that my oldest son kept trading away pins that he had bought - but if we have a bunch of duplicates than why would I care if he trades them - I am going to oder the grab bags for them for christmas and hoping for a lot of duplicates :rotfl: :rotfl:

I just received my order from mousepinsonline and I only had 2 duplicates. I found them to be very helpful and responseful. OP, have you tried to contact them to see if they may exchange some of the duplicates?

I just bought some pins from the Disney store. It was 2 sets of 4 (one was Bug's Life and the other was Sleeping Beauty), and they were 40% off the lowest ticketed price, which was 9.99. I think they were originally$12.50 for each set. They came to 5.99 each, which meant $1.50 per pin. I was very happy with that price, and I even asked the clerk if she was sure they were authentic. In other words, can I use them for trading at WDW parks. She said yes, so I feel I got a very good deal. We are just starting with pin trading and DS8 is really into it after only 1 trip to WDW. My question is, the price seems very low per pin compared to what I hear others have bought. I wasn't duped, was I?

We just got back from WDW and had no problem trading any of the pins we bought at the Disney Store or we had ordered from Mousepins. After spending almost $30 on 3 pins my DD and DH just HAD to have while we were there, I'm very glad that we had brought our own with us.

We're considering letting DS trade pins (with CMs) on this trip, and I'm with some of you! I'd rather have lots of duplicates to give away. I would probably end up keeping more than I needed to if they were all different. Heck, I'd order 50 duplicates. No, not really. That would make for a really boring starter set.

Just thought I'd point out that Vickmeys bumped this up from somewhere in the history of DIS. The first post on this thread (and the first 4 replies) is from 2/2007 - almost 2 years ago, .

The reason I buy from Mousepins is I like the dup. to trade. Why spend $6-10on pins when you get there if the kids each have 15 pins to trade that I bought for $1.75?

We're considering pin trading in December. So, other than duplicate pins (which I consider a plus!!), they're reputable? All pins are legit?

Thanks!

I have to say that if I was buying pins for my kids to use as traders, that it would be BETTER for them to have many duplicates. The last thing you want (if you desire your kid to trade the pins) to do is have your kids love the traders and not want to give them away! So if you have duplicates, they are more likely to trade them.

If you were just trying to buy pins to have them, then maybe it would be disappointing.

We bought from Mousepins for our recent trip and had excellent service from them. We didn't receive any duplicates in our grab bag. Though we enjoyed looking at all the different pins, we traded every single one of them anyway (and continued to trade the ones we traded until the end of the trip!!) If you bought to keep, then I'd be upset, but if you bought to trade, I don't see the problem. Did you contact Mousepins with your complaints? Perhaps they would make it "right" for you?

Just read this, so why was this thread so important to be bumped after so long? :confused3 Oh Well, I obviously put my two cents in anyway!

Well I'll go ahead and comment too...hehe

You think that's bad I bought a grab bag of 25 pins off of ebay of disney tradable pins, 20 of them were of tinker bell. :scared1: Not a pretty display on anyones lanyard, we were disappointed as well.
