Beware ebay and name brands!

So I posted in another post about getting an email from ebay saying the UGGS I ordered were fraudulent and not to pay which I already had so I have a case with them on that. Well today I get another email saying that the northface denali jacket I ordered is said to be fraudulent. The problem with this one is that I did pay for it, they did ship it out, it was scanned as delivered to my house today but I did not receive anything. I am about to go beserk! So when people say beware they mean it.

Bless your heart. One suggestion: Check with your neighbors. They may have received your package. I know a couple of weeks ago I found a package in my mailbox that was for someone down the street. It had the green "Scan for Delivery Confirmation" sticker on it and I'm sure her tracking said it was delivered....just not to MY house. I took it down the street to her. I know the mix up, her house number has the same last two digits as ours but her first digit is 1 and ours is 2 My mother told me I should have taken it to the PO and made them re-do delivery but I was worried it might be meds or something (I didn't recognize the sender name) so I just delivered it myself.

I contacted my post office and they are going to check in the morning to see if my mail carrier remembers where he delivered it. The thing is the guy that is my mail carrier has been for a long time and knows me. I know he may have made a mistake and will feel bad. I just hope that if it was delivered to the wrong house the person does right and brings it to the post office but more than anything I am just feeling really bad that within the last two days this has happened twice to me with having ordered fraudulent items. I guess some people just don't have a conscience!

Never buy anything from sellers in China. Their stuff is always knock offs. And always read the seller's feedback before you make a purchase. About 6 years ago, I bought an item at a too good to be true price from China and it turned out to be fake! I wrote to the seller and they told me to return it and they would issue me a refund. Well I returned the item and played a game of email tag with the seller until I finally gave up. I didn't know that I could have filed a complaint with paypal nor did I know about chargebacks. So I was out $175and wound up buying the real thing from the retailer and so it wound up costing me almost $600 in the end. But I learned my lesson when buying on ebay. Well except for a few years ago when I bought a wii and it turned out to be fraudelent and I filed a case with paypal and thankfully got my money back.

The location it was coming from was New York and they had 100% positive feedback at the time now it shows a few negative. I will stay away from ebay from now on.

ebay is like a giant black market. some stuff is good but people dont have any idea where most of the stuff on there is coming from. i wont use it for that reason and every time my friend orders something from there because it cant be found anywhere else (ex. disney's lion king dvd) its fake or they never get the items in the mail and have to fight for money.

That was my first thought when the OP said NYC. If the address is Canal St, it's a knock off.

I hope your package turns up so you can see what you've got! FWIW, we have had the same mail carrier for forever and there are only THIRTEEN houses on our street You'd think they could get the right one. My guess was that there was a sub driver that day and they just glanced at the package.

Two years ago, I got a North Face jacket from Ebay. The address was New Jersey and the seller had 100% positve feedback. The second I opened the package, I knew the item was counterfeit. I contacted Paypal and they opened a file. They contacted the seller and asked that I return the item and I was refunded my money. I learned never to buy North Face products from Ebay. Maybe other people were fooled by the counterfeit products, but I was not.

Is widely know that most stuff in ebay is fake. I only buy certain stuff on ebay. I have see a few clearly fake stuff and report it to my surprise the item were still sold and the sellers are still selling on ebay!!!

I have had all successful transactions on Ebay. I buy mainly clothing, but also a few anime/manga items that come from Japan.

I hope I never have a bad encounter......I shop Ebay frequently, and I save a TON of $$ this way.

It doesn't even have to been addressed Canal St. I know of a few women in my hometown (about 1.5 hrs east of NYC in Long Island) who make their living by going into NYC once a week down to Chinatown & they buy tons of "designer" bags, Juicy Couture knock offs, FUggs, etc. They then have house parties & sell them on Ebay and make tons of cash each week.

Update: My package made it to my house today, they say that it was here yesterday but unless he back tracked and put it in my mailbox after I got my mail I don't know how it could have been but oh well I got my package. I have decided to keep the jacket. This is for my 18 year old daughter and honestly I looked it over real well and I showed it to my 17 and 14 year old daughters and all of us agree that if it is a fake we could not tell it looks just like the one my daughter already has (she needed a bigger size). I figure for the price I paid for it if it is fake I still got a fairly good deal. That being said because I am no expert on real vs fake and the fact that you cannot get an ebay representative on the phone I do not feel comfortable going through them anymore but for those of you who do good luck to you all I hope you get what you were promised.

Alot of fakes are actually "gray market" which means they can be exactly the same fabrics and trims but not assembled in the company factory. I know this is very different from clothing and handbag purchases, but there are gray market ebay sellers of American Girl items who list regularly. These items will often have an "official" tag and usually look exactly like an official AG piece of clothing. So if you find something you want at a decent price and it looks okay and you're happy with it, then keep and enjoy. If you want only the official designer brand, then file a claim and return it. The problem I see is an ethical one as it hurts the name-brand company to have these cheaper items competing against the "real" product.---Kathy

Now THAT should be made into some sort of "The Real Housewife" show. Housewives that have "ripping people off" parties instead of bothering with small time stuff like Tupperware

Hmm, that's interesting. How do you decide if it is legit or "gray market"? And how do these people get the materials to make these things and package them?

dclfun I agree with your ethical standpoint but after having this happen twice to me within two days (the boots were never shipped and I am waiting to be reimbursed) I decided that for what I paid, the hassle of having to pay to send it back, not knowing if I would get reimbursed by the seller or have to file another discrepancy with ebay and the fact that I know this person will just sell it again I decided to keep it. But like I said I won't use ebay anymore because I just don't know who I can trust. But again you are right it is not fair to the real company.
