I received an unsolicited small blue box in todays mail from Creating Keepsakes --- called The Essential Scrapbook Collection.
It contains a DVD & a kit to make some cards.

Its one of those "join our club" junk mail kind of things we get in the mail all the time. Ya know, with a couple of free stickers.

I was like "cool"....nice giveaways. And I usually just toss all the literature. Well, this time, I decided to start reading it.

GRRRRRR, they are sending this DVD that I will have to pay $7 to keep....OR return it. Now granted, they've enclosed a postage paid label.....but STILL, what a pain in the butt.

I wonder how many people are going to end up with a $7 bill....and more DVDs & card kits every 2-3 months.

If you get this package (its blue).....READ IT carefully.

P.S. There is also a FREE font on the DVD.....CK Carefree.

And you get to keep the card kit if returning the DVD.

Unless you signed up for it, that's illegal. The law regards it as an unsolicted gift. You can't send someone something "on approval" without their consent. Are you sure you didn't somehow sign up?

I'm positive. I thought it was illegal too. Like you get to keep something you didn't order?

Here is the opening paragraph of the letter:
You must be wondering why you've received the enclosed DVD. It's simple - you are a valued subscriber and we want to let you in on a new and exciting benefit. You have been selected to receive the first title in the Essential Scrapbook Video Collection, Creative Tips, Techniques & Solutions, at the special subscriber price of only $7.

Down at the very end of the letter is says: If you do return the DVD we'll give another Creating Keepsakes subscriber the same oppourtunity!

I got mine in June and I haven't had a chance to return it. I will this weekend. Anyways, I haven't received another one yet since I haven't paid for it. I keep getting letters asking me if I'm gonna pay for it. Weird.... though... Kinda a pain. I have enough things to remember to do and this isn't one of them.

I have gotten it twice. Once in the summer at my old house. I called immediately and complained. I was told that I was under no obligation to return it or pay for it. I really can't remember whether I returned it or threw it away. I was very angry about it. I just got another one 2 weeks ago here at my new house. I called again and the agent assured me that I would be removed from the list. I did return this one. I am thinking of writing them an email stating that if they can't guarantee no unsolicited offers then I don't want the magazine anymore.

I got one this summer and I'm trying to rememebr but I think somewhere in the information it says that you don't have to return it since you didn't ask for it but if you did they could give the opportunity to another reader. I know I don't still have the paperwork but try reading it again.

I've read it carefully several times, don't see anything mentioned about getting to keep it because I didn't ask for it (even though that is the law). It does say that the only way to stop future DVDs from arriving is to return this one however.

I'll watch it, get all the free stuff I can off of it, & it will be going back.

I got it too. Its still just sitting here unopened. There is a reason I dont sign up for stuff like that cause I dont have the time to return crap I dont want. The only thing of theirs I ever signed up for was the magazine because thats all I wanted. Now I have to worry about them sending me stuff I dont want then bothering me for money for the unwanted item.

I recieved a DVD like that from a train magazine I get. Same deal, club yada more dvd's yada no obligation yada send back so we can sucker another mope. I kept it and sent them no money. Got a few reminder that I pitched too. They cannot make you pay for it. So keep them ladies its a FREE gift!

I got that a long time ago

I threw it away ALL of it (unopened).
then got a bill for $7.00 a couple months later. I called the company and told them I don't know what they are billing me a $7.00 for. They explained what it was for I said Oh I threw that away. They said I haad to pay for it. I said BULL I never asked for it to be sent to my house so i'm not paying anything. It is NOT my job to mail things I didn't ask for back to you. Hit me with another bill I will hit you with a lawsuit.
I haven't gotten another bill LOL
