Beware about Medicare drug plans...

If you are a retiree with medical insurance through your retirement, be very wary of signing up for any of the Medicare Presciption plans. My Mom retired from a large corp, and received a letter from the company benefits dept that IF she signed up for a Medicare Drug plan, she would lose ALL of her medical benefits from her company because the companies medical plan already includes drug coverage as a "package deal", and you can not have more than one drug plan. It sounded "fishy" so I called her benefits office, and it was verified...so check with your medical plan before signing up for one of the new Medicare plans they are pushing everywhere.

Chuck you bring up a good point but i'd like to add one more thing to this.

PLEASE PLEASE if you have an elderly relative on Medicaire- PLEASE consult with a benefits coordinator PRIOR to them picking a plan. Both of my grandparents and my great aunt are on Medicare and I have begun to do so for all 3 of them. You do not have to pick a plan until May 2006, so there is NO RUSH to do so...........
