Ok, Beverly Lynn, now I need your advice (or anyone else familiar with a problem such as this).

We are flying to Las Vegas from Boston next week. First of all, with all that is happening at Logan with their practically non-existent security, I REALLY do not want to fly out of there. I only booked there since there were more voucher seats available last spring for Boston (I normally fly out of Manchester, NH). Just this week, Logan had a security guard at terminal B take his coffee break and leave his post un-manned. Many passengers just wandered through the gates without being screened at all! Last week they found box cutters on an American plane... So, I was thinking of calling USAir to see if they'd allow me to fly out of Manchester instead of Boston in light of Logan's worst-in-security status.

Before I could call them, USAir just called me. They canceled my flight out of Boston anyway. I now have two connections rather than one - that alone makes me upset. I understand that all airlines have to make drastic changes right now. It's just that evey single time I've flown USAir in the past 6 or so years, they always change my flights, at the last minute, to something unfavorable, or even unacceptable.

So, my thought is this: If I call and speak to someone and explain that I am very concerned about Logan's lack of security, and my disappointment on being rescheduled to a flight with two connections - do you think they might let me fly out of Manchester instead (if they have seats available, that is)?

Sorry this was so long! Thanks,

Kristi

I am not Beverly Lynn, but I think that you have a case for a change anyway since you have two connections. I doubt that the worst in nation security case is going to help you so I would not start with that line of thought. I would point out that they made the changes so you want this change to accomdate you better.

Also, you said you were on voucher tickets are you talking frequent flyer? If so, then you may be able to change without any problems. I noticed on Delta that a lot of frequent flyer tickets have opened up lately.

Thanks for answering Carol. The tickets we have are vouchers from being bumped from a flight last November. I did change our flight a couple weeks ago since flights with voucher seats were wide open since the tragedy. But now, I think USAir canceled about half their flights (I just checked their website) - which explains them needing to change our flight also, since it doesn't exist anymore.

I guess I am just frustrated since something bad always seems to happen when we fly USAir - it never fails. On top of that, I am a very nervous flyer anyway. So with three take-offs and having to go through Boston, I am a pretty much a wreck just thinking about it. Oh well, if they won't do anything for me, I am still going, no matter what!

I really wish we were going Southwest - I just love that airline!

yes call usair and explain the situation to them. first off make sure that yu let them know that the double connection is not acceptable and ask if its possible to go out of MHT instead. and if it comes down to it let them know how scared you are to fly out of BOS right now. I also suggest calling consumer affairs instead of general sales. you can ge their number off the usair websight. just go to hoem and index then telephone numbers. and there you will find one for consumer affairs.

Thank you! I will try to call USAir this morning and see what they can do for me.
