Better? X-Box or Playstation 3? Opinions please

We have both and we spend much more time on the 360 than the PS3. (Although we have spent many, many hours playing Little Big Planet.) I personally prefer the online XBox Live network over PSN, though a large part of that could be because most of my friends spend more time online with their 360s. Also I love 1 vs. 100, the new primetime trivia gameshow that is exclusive to the 360. We play that almost every day when it's on. I agree with others that the two most important factors are the exclusive games and which system more of her friends are on. I don't think you can go wrong with either system, it's just a matter of personal preference as to which is better.

I have a 360 (27 yr old female) and love it. I do not play online and thus don't pay for live gold. I do however download content from the regular xbox live and enjoy being able to get extra game features and episodes of The Guild! The games I enjoy are mostly Role Play Games and the 360 has a wonderful selection. Fable, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, ect ect have all been Xbox exclusive releases. I have also been noticing that more and more PS3 "exclusive" games are having there releases changed to both systems. The most recent of these is the next Final Fantasy which I am SO looking forward to.

Now that the price of the PS3 has lowered, I am thinking about getting one at some point. Really, it's for 2 reasons... First, for the Blu Ray player and second, for the Nippon Ichi games (Disgaea 3 is PS3 only *pout*).

I know you want it to be a surprise, but I found the best way to decide on a system is to look at the games available on gamespot.com or amazon. See which system has the most games she would be interested in. This is how I decided on my 360. Wii had something like 4 games I wanted, PS3 had 5, and the 360 had like 9 LOL. Made the decision SUPER easy!

Both are amazing, but I prefer the XBox 360...

I have both. I think the XBox has a better variety of games but PS3 offers free online play and it's streaming technology is really good.
