Better to buy at WDW or over phone?

Quick question as we are planning our first DVC purchase @VGF.

Is there any benefit for purchasing VGF at WDW during out upcoming trip (booked GF next week) vs just calling in before the trip? We do not have any to miss out on any unique incentives.

Thank you for any thoughts.

Maybe you can get a gift card for going To listen to the spiel? Sometimes they do that and fast passes although with genie plus, maybe you can negotiate free passes? Or provide a referral ID, although I suspect the latter could also be done via phone.

We've already added on twice since VGF2 (we are original VGF purchasers) and we did one VGF2 onsite and one over the phone a few months later (decided we wanted more points, lol). The onsite once turned out to be a mess due to CM error. It took awhile and execs getting involved to fix it. The over the phone purchase a few months later went as smoothly as could be. So, the CM factor aside, I don't see a big difference.

From my understanding, there is nothing special being offered for touring the DVC rooms and buying onsite vs. over the phone.

You can still tour when you go and they will be able to give you the special gifts they give all owners who visit. One benefit, I think, about buying over the phone is that you don't have to take as much time out of your vacation to do it.

They will give you 1 free bottled water per person if you do the tour. I bet they’d give you a second if you asked. That, sadly, is about it.

We just stumbled along a tour and got a $25 GC when we were staying at the Swolphin. We met our new guide, who replaced Kathy when she retired. Actually we had no guide in the system once Kathy left, but he was there so he became our guide. He gives us a $25 gift card for the spiel, which was nice...

I would have never wanted to give up the amount of time it took to process everything to purchase amidst our vacation. Much better to do it at home.

We live close to DLR, so we might mosey on over to do a walkthrough... however, still contemplating resale vs direct. We might wait to schedule during the last week of the current incentive! Thanks for your post!

We recently added on during our trip and got MagicBand sliders and prints which we would have gotten just for talking to the guys at the kiosks. I actually preferred when we did it from home earlier this year as they send everything in edoc form and trying to review that on a cell phone was rough.
