Better than Visa Magic Code?

I've only read through page 13....

I wanted to print the $35 coupon ND21190701Q. I know it's an e-coupon, but I feel better if I take it along. Apparently it doesn't expire until the end of June, but I can't find it on their website anymore.

Does anyone have a link?

Thank you.

Also, the National site is accepting that particular coupon code for rentals taking place after the 6/30/8 expiration date. Anyone know what's going on there?

*********** NEVER MIND *****************

I made it through the whole thread, well mostly, and
i think I understand now.

I also googled and found some site which describes the expiration date for the $35 coupon as 12/31/08. It does, indeed, list as a blogcoupon on my ressie, so that's good.

And I see what you mean about the coupon being added back---that happened when I selected a mid-size, but it did NOT happen when I selected a compact, so we now have a compact car reserved for one week for a total after taxes of $79. Wow.

I was only going to get a car for one day just to stock up on groceries (we're organizing a POP fridge swap), but for the price of 3 days I can have a car for 7, so I think we're going that route.

Thank you everyone for all your posts!

:thanks: :grouphug: :disrocks:

Just back, used code from June 11 to June 23 for a minivan at $326. No problems.

On another thread I posted about our great recent experience with Priceline. And, indeed, everything went smoothly with the transaction. However, while my DH was parked outside the hotel registering, car keys in his pocket, and DD16 was in front passenger seat, another driver backed out of a parking spot right into the car. So, insurance is needed to account for other drivers, not just one's own driving abilities.

I'm definitely going to rethink this code thing. I want to be SURE there is coverage, especially since I only have liability on my own cars (they are too old to warrant full coverage), and since the credit card company won't cover anything if the insurance is not declined.

yes, and this applies to driving at home too. I've been rear-ended 4x, not even from stopping quickly. at red lights, traffic slow-downs, parked in street, etc. so I know too well what other stupid, ahem, I mean inattentive, drivers can do to your car. :furious:

yes, and this applies to driving at home too.

For me, driving a '96 Chevy, the amount of money I'd get from an insurance company wouldn't be enough to repair anything--so I don't pay for collision, theft, etc., only liability at home. If the accident is my fault, I would have to deal with the cost, if it's the other party's fault, their insurance would pay.

However, a rental car is usually the current model year. I couldn't afford to repair that if it were a hit and run and no way to track down the other driver. And of course, I could be the one at fault, no matter how careful I was. I'm still not sure if these codes are the right thing for my situation.

I'm glad to hear that so many people have used the codes without difficulty, and while I'm definitely NOT wishing for this to happen, I do wish we could know how an accident was handled when using the codes...:worried:

O.K. Someone explain to me how to get a car booked so inexpensively. Where does the 67 go? Help, I leave in 12 days! Jen ;)

When using the 67 code, you are no longer able to use the 35 off coupon. I made a reservation in May with it for october and it worked. Now trying to make the same reservation it will not accept it with the code.

just a heads up for everybody using the 57 or 67 codes. I just tried to modify my reservation using a different coupon, once i applied the coupon, it said on top of the page in red "invalid corporate id or association id"...it would not let me modify the ressie using the 57 code...I just keeped my original ressie...i am using the 57 code, i hope all of us using this code going forward will be ok...has anybody else tried this...my original ressie seems to be ok

Ok, just reporting back. My neighbor and I used the code this past week at MCO and had no problems at all. We both used Emerald Exec- she had a Toyota Highlander, I had a Chryser Town and Country loaded with DVD and Sirius. Both under $100 for the week. Thank you poster!!!!!

I have res for 7/17 using 67 code. Weeks ago I wrote Emerald Club to ask if I needed any ID. Response was they fwd request to other dept & I had to login to check. When I tried to login, it said my email was not associated w/ res. So, today I broke down & called. Was told I needed to call MCO Directly.

Called MCO & talked to 'justin' who double checked and told me it was "good to go" NO ID NEEDED.

Another reason was that I had been told by the 800 Number that when DH arrived a week after I did, that I needed to bring him to the counter to sign & leave a copy of his DL so that he could drive it. NOT SO!

So, I won't use an alternate reservation, just the 67. And, checking today, I could still book using that.

Just checked prices again for Sept and after entering the 57 code, it said it was invalid and to check the number again. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

It did allow the 67 code.

eta: sorry vinnynyc, I didn't see your post.

Oh, FYI, my backup was going to be with Avis which had a rate of under $400 for 10 days of SUV (gee, I wonder why???:rotfl2: but good if you have lots of people/luggage as we will for a cruise)

I just caught wind of all this chatter regarding the now famous "67" code with National. Talk about incredible!

We could even rent a Cadillac for a week (Aug. 9-16) for $220; a van for $200...compared to 500-600 dollars rack rate.

I'm not hearing of any problems from anyone out there regarding the need for id, etc. at check-in so I'm inclined to go for it...Also when I tried combining it with a coupon, a red letter warning came up about needing to present the actual coupon at check in...by contrast, once I removed the coupon from the request, the discount popped up with absolutely no information about needing ID, etc.--so I'm thinking this looks mighty good.

I think I have to do it!

Add me to the list of people who don't understand the need to PHONE NATIONAL and bring to their attention that people are using a code that is bringing the rates down 50%.

If National decides that too many people are using this code, and they suspend the code.....do you really think it is going to help you at the counter if you say "well I called and some guy named Justin told me that it was gonna be okay"?

8572957 is no longer a valid code for National. The other codes will probably be suspended soon, as well. Thanks to everyone who felt the need to post the heck out of it and make a zillion phone calls to National asking questions about the astounding prices found by using the code.

Can anyone update on this code? Did it work ok for you?

I tried to get through the 50 or so posts below, but there wasn't any updates.
I am saving HUGE on a minivan in April....and would love to use it!

Am I ok to use it without id.( It was the Travel Solutions code I believe...) Has anyone had sucess??
Please update!

Thanks!

If you have already booked for future travel then they suspend the code, will they honor it?
