Better than Visa Magic Code?

We are trying to determine if we can fly instead of drive for the first time for a big trip in 7 years and the rental car is a huge part of it - we are going for 11 days so that's a lot of rental.

I just made a ressie using 8572967 and the coupon that I am not sure didn't add more cost instead of take away (but $17 so I'll look later) and I got an emerald aisle midsize for 270 for the 11 days - over 200 cheaper than the earlier tries.

I traveled for 9 years and always used various codes but my overall thinking on this is - if it were restricted I am pretty sure they would have had to notify us on this when it was entered. If someone tried to tell me I can't use it I would be speaking with a manager with a copy of the ressie in my hand saying where is the info on the restriction.

I also agree that an emerald aisle rental skips the counter and reduces the risk.

For those who do not have emerald club - go to mousesavers there is a code to get the club for free!

I tried making a reservation using the 67 code and the entertainment book 2 car class upgrade. It is showing my level of service as counter. I am an Emerald Club member, so why am I required to go to the counter?

Is everyone else showing the level of service as counter?

Do you by any chance need to update your profile? I ask because yesterday I reserved a vehicle with National and it showed "counter." I then went into my profile and realized I needed to update my driver's license expiration date. :confused3

I checked that and my credit card info as well, both are up to date. I think it has to do with the EB 2 car class upgrade coupon. If I remove that, the level shows as ER. Its too good a deal though so I might just stick with the counter...

Upgrades have always been counter. However, rule breaker that I am :lmao: I have never gone to the counter, always used the exit checkout, never had a problem. Another however, you may do differently, or, your results may be different.

OK Let me just make sure I have this right...
.....we are all playing around with 3 codes now and we are all deciding on the risk factor, correct? Is one of the 3 codes giving a better deal or does it depend on what car & where etc????

I think we're only talking about two codes, 8572957 and 8572967. These are the Travel Solution Codes.

8572987 is the VISA code, and you need to use your VISA to rent if you use the VISA code.

What kind of car are you requesting? Emerald aisle is midsize. My ressie says emerald aisle.

EDITED-----After reading through all the other threads and another forum discussing these codes, I re-booked. I used the *67 code since it's been dubbed the "complimentary code". Seems a little safer to me. The rate stays the same.

Whoever has this ressie - are you executive emerald club on your own or was this done through one of the codes? The cars on the executive aisle are so much better.

If it says counter, can I go to the National booth in the garage instead of the terminal counter?

I posted this on another thread as well. I thought I would use the "complementary code" "67" since complimentray implies it is safe so I called National yesterday to verify. I was told that the "67" code is also a Travel Solutions employee code. I quesitoned the agent about it being complementary. He placed me on hold and came bacck and said he had no idea what I meant by complimentary and the code is for travel Solutions employees. :confused3 He did not say that ID would be required but I don't take much solace in that fact since I did not specifically ask. I was going to call another agent to see if I got a different answer but I thought even if I got the answer I wanted to hear, it does not make it the correct answer. Sort of like Disney CM's giving different answers. After lookng at Mousesavers site again and seeing that she posts codes that require memberships (credit cards, airlines, etc.), I am erring on the side of caution and not booking the Travel Solutions codes as it is apparent certain codes require membership. Alamo has a code in which a Mastercard needs to be used. One of the rental companies have a code requiring the use of Amercan Express. Do the rental agents always ask for proof? No, but my luck is that I would be the one they would ask. I just don't feel right about it. For everyone who is going to use it, I truly wish you success as it does provide excellent rates.:goodvibes

Apparently this code is a popular topic of discussion.....

OK, so I read thru this thread and the post #569 says that they used *57 at MCO w/ no problem. When they got their invoice at the end, it did charge for the LDW and other taxes and fees, but the actual rental was super cheap, so it all came out to his original quoted amount. His CC was charged the quoted amount as well. Sounds good to me. I'll keep watching for others feedback as they use these codes. I've reserved under *67, myself, using ER.:)

I found the upgrade to Executive while searching for more info on the Travel Solutions codes.

You are the best:banana:

9 years of traveling and now I get the executive cars when I really need it!

I'm flying in/out of Tampa so hopefully there will be a good selection - anyone know what cars are generally in that catgeory?

BTW - I 'enrolled' and put in my name and DL # and it found me and upgraded me. Then I had to change my ressie to full size and it made it an executive selection.

I sent an e-mail to National's customer service today asking about the code. I will advise if and when I get a response. Hopefully they will respond and give me something in writing.

This is the answer I received from National regarding the 57 code:

Dear Mr. xxxxx,

Thank you for your email.
Upon review if you are an employee of TQ3 TRAVEL SOLUTIONS you may use this rate. If not you are not authorized to use this rate as it states for Employees Only. You will be ask at time of rental to show proof of employment.

If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to email us or contact our Internet Support department at 1-888-501-9010.

THanks for the update!

Any idea where "it states for Employees Only"? My ressie has nothing about it - if I have a coupon requiring printing, it says that on my ressie but this code did not produce anything.

Honestly - I'm using it regardless as I have an executive emerald ressie so I won't go to the counter and I will pitch a fit beyond belief if they try to charge me something other than the ressie says if there are no printed restrictions. But that's me - I'm willing to risk having to pitch a fit and my savings are hundreds so it's really worth it to me to try it out. I am also going to be at tampa so who knows how fussy they are there.

I am so glad I took a peek on this section of the boards - I have such great info and this code has allowed me to now fly instead of drive 15 hours!

With all the calls about the codes, if they decide to discontinue the code, will this mean any reservations already made with the code with not be honored? Honestly, I plan to try the code and play dumb if they ask me about it. I have a back up reservation at Budget, which would be a pain and waste of time but I am willing to take the chance. My reservation is through the Emerald Executive so hopefully everything will go smooth. Willing to take that chance for a great rate and a nicer car.
