Better offer - upgrade?

We booked for the summer in January and got 25% off.

I've not looked properly at the 40% offer, I don't know if it covers our dates even.

However, if this offer or potentially any subsequent offer would make our trip cheaper, am I right I thinking that if we phone up and ask to upgrade, we should / may get the whole package at the new offer price? (I assume we can't just phone up and get exactly the same holiday cheaper).

If this is correct, what counts as an upgrade? I don't think we can upgrade hotel rooms. We're staying in a 4 person wheelchair accessible room at HNY. When we booked we were told they don't have any such rooms in DLH (even if we could have afforded it!).

However, would upgrading to include half board food vouchers count? We haven't bothered with them, but we would be happy to if it was a better deal!

Yes, it would count. We booked standard rooms at NPB with 25% discount, I then saw there was an offer for Admirals floor rooms with 40% discount so I upgraded to them and added the plus dining plan so that the overall cost was more than I originally paid. Another DISer (Donna) benefited the same time as me by adding Buffalo Bill tickets to her booking.

I think you're more likely to be successful if you're adding to your booking by upgrading hotel, room, adding dining, character breakfast, Buffalo Bill tickets etc etc but at one stage the CM did ask whether I wanted a refund as she could then refer it to her supervisor. I didn't want to get greedy by pushing my luck :rotfl2: so added the plus dining plan - although I wouldn't normally consider this good value it meant we now have three days main meals already paid for for the princely sum of just over £30 each so I am now a very happy bunny.

Not everyone seems to get lucky in *upgrading* under the new discounts but the most important thing is to phone Central Reservations in France not the UK booking line, and if at first you don't succeed try try again.

When we went last November we originally booked the Santa Fe and were happy with that. Then an offer came out which meant that the SL was £3 dearer! We phoned our travel agent and she was happy for us to upgrade.

Phone 0844 200 90 90 then when prompted enter 00 33 1 60 30 60 53 It's 0.5p minute and ask them if you can upgrade your package and have the new 40% discount applied to your package too. If they say they can't do it hang up and try calling again to speak to someone else....repeat until you get someone who will. It's taken some people at least 5-6 times to get lucky. You have more chance of getting it phoning the numbers above than phoning the UK call centre.

I originally booked my package back in November - Since then i've phoned up a couple of times and i've upgraded twice (extra days park tickets for all and room upgrade) and i've had a few hundred taken off my original price.

If you phone - Good luck and let us know how you get on. :thumbsup2

Like someone above mentioned you could just upgrade by booking the buffalo bill show or a character meal...that way you will also more than likely get some taken off your original price too ;)

eeeeeeeee yay!! saw this thread and decided to check dlp site again - my dates had an extra £150 off what I paid! called up and got half board plus for 2 for an extra £70, awesome!
:)

love disboards !

I posted elsewhere about upgrading from the SF to the SQL for €41!

I booked in a 15% off sale and upgraded in this 40% sale!

Thanks folks, I will check our dates tonight. Just a couple of things:-

What's the number for the French reservations line (is this in our confirmation email, which I don't have at work)?

If we call do you need to ask about having the new offer price applied to the whole booking, or do they do this automatically?

Will they speak to me, or will my wife (whose name the booking is in) have to call them?

I rang the regular booking line. Normally I'm put brought to Americans but this time I got a lovely English cm called Hugh. Normally my experience with the American cm's is very clinical and pushy an fake and scripted. The English cm was lovely and we kinda chatted more so than customer/company chat.

Anyway I just asked or a price on upgrading an he gave me the quote of €41.

I've included all that info in post #4 above.

I'm sure they'll have no problems speaking with you even though the booking is in your wife's name.

I've never got anywhere speaking to an american cm on that line. In fact two that I have spoke to haven't had a clue what they're even talking about. They have quoted me figures way out! I'd never deal with them on that line again and find the french number a lot better.

I'm not looking to upgrade as we are happy with what we've got but, just wanted to say that I totally agree with you on the American CMs, in the 6 times I've rang Disney (including my last 2 trips), the American CMs have been rude, pushy and haven't known their proverbials from their elbows (and have misquoted prices and 'missed' offers out of their pricing ). The twice I have actually got the correct information/more helpful information etc, has been when I have been lucky to get English CMs.

One time I even asked to speak to an original English CM who had been very helpful and I was point blankly refused to be transferred :confused3!

If I were to call again about anything now, I wouldn't hesitate to try the French line first. The UK line is getting worse!! :scared1:

Hi there, I'm Donna :wave2:

As mentioned above, I managed to upgrade our booking to include buffalo bill tickets and was refunded the difference (it was only about £11)

I phoned up on behalf of a woman I work with and got their room upgraded at the Newport Bay Hotel. They now have lake side views on the admirals floor and a £5 refund!! It's well worth trying. good luck and let us know how you get on :goodvibes

I had a look at the prices online and our dates are coming out almost exactly the same price, so I'm not going to bother.

Thanks for all the help though!

Hi

We are going mid October to DLH. Checked and it is now cheaper with the 40%.
Took your advice and phoned the French number, who as soon as they realised I was a uk booking transferred me to the normal booking line.
I spoke to a lovely American, he could not have been nicer.
As a result we have added on a meal at cafe mickey and cowboy cookout and a £30 reduction in price.........:cool1:

Happy days... Thanks for all the advice as usual

That's great news you got your upgrade! Re the American cm - You must have got a newbie who hadn't been shown the ropes yet! ;) :rotfl:

we have booked NPB with the 40% offer, for October/ Halloween week, based on previous years does any expect another offer to beat this???

It would be wonderful to upgarde using the all the previous tip because I want to add half board to my booking !! fingers crossed :worship:

When I saw there had been a price drop on our booking at SL for June I rang CS to see what if anything I could get in relation to a discount. I had already priced up what it would be to add the half board plan and as expected the CM told me the full price without the 40% discount applied. I told him that I though upgrading the package would cause the new discount to kick in but he said that only applies if you change hotels. My reply to this (might have been a lie) was to say last time we enjoyed a stay adding a meal plan did trigger the discount. He placed me on hold for a couple of minutes and came back to say thank you as I had taught him something he didn't know even though he had worked there some time and that it should cause the discount to apply.

Long and short of it half board plus for a four night stay for just over £120 - very happy :yay:

I'm no customer service expert but I always make sure I catch the name they give and use it as often as I can just to be personal (and friendly) and it always seem to work for me :)

Kip
