Better month? Jan or Oct?

Well, Jan probably has lower crowds, BUT the weather is unpredictable. October has MNSSHP, Food & Wine Fest, nice weather, and lower crowds than summer. I love going then- January could be fun, but I'd give the edge to October.

October weather is only more predictable if you don't count hurricanes!

Both months are great. My DH doesn't like hot weather, and has now said he won't go anytime but Jan/Feb. so I am a bit prejudiced. I loved the F & W festival the one year we were there, though.

I would pick October because we love to swim/do the water parks. Although we live up north now, we are southern born and bred....therefore, we do NOT swim when it is chilly outside. Even though the pools or heated we hate getting out of the water when the air is cold, as Janurary usually is (to us anyway.) October is almost always still warm, but not broiling. We went last October around Columbus Day. This year we are going for Christmas and the kids are already complaining that it will be too cold to swim (most likely.) The hurricanes are usually over by October, but that could be a problem some years. Janurary would most likely be less crowded, so it just depends on what you want to do. Walking around WDW in a coat and gloves is just weird to us, but I guess if it was just dh and me it would be okay!

Why not both? We go the last week of October (23- 29) for F&W, not to mention Jefferson Starship, the Beach Boys and Family Stone this year!! Then we run it off at the 1/2 marathon, Jan. 5 - 11th!! :cool1:

I have to say Food & Wine pushes it over to October. January is nice because the crowds are thin, but it is odd having the deocrations coming down, and the weather can be unpredictable and downright cold sometimes.

Why not book at the beginning of October to get in at the value season price? You still get to enjoy the Food and Wine Fest and the MNSSHP along with the great weather!

That's what we are doing now due to FREE DINING even though I already had a trip planned and paid for February! Now we might just have to do both!

How busy is it the last week of Oct? That's when I was planning on taking my next trip, but I did not know that F&W was going on at that time. I just got back from the 50th at DL and the crowds were huge!! Is it going to be really crowded for F&W? Thanks for any info!!

We have been there in Oct and in Jan. The weather is so unpredictable in Jan. You could get nice warm days (70's) cool evenings (50-60's), to rain all day long (not just an afternoon shower), to cold days (30's) and they are covering up the landscaping to protect from frost. So my vote is for Oct. We had such a great time the few times we went down in Oct. The kids love MNSSHP.
So my vote would be for Oct.

My vote goes to October  I love MNSSHP, I would go to it every year if I could. The weather is usually pretty nice if there is no hurricanes going over :) hee hee
