We exited out into Fantasyland which was already bustling with people. I tell everyone we should go ahead and ride Dumbo because the line gets very long quickly. Neth gets mad. He wants the first ride to be Splash Mountain. So he pouts and refuses to get in line. Jason gets out of line and talks to him and he stalks into line with us. I try and explain the reasoning. (We are here at point A. Lets finish here then go to point B, save some time.) We are soon on our elephant (Neth picks a dumbo dressed in green, of course!) and surprise! Neth giggles through the whole ride. He makes our elephant bounce up and down. I thought I was going to be ill.....The ride ends and we hop over to Peter Pan's Flight, another ride that gets long lines! Within a few minutes we are flying in our pirate ship "off to Neverland!" Brenne and I ride together. She loves this and wants to go again. Jason wants to hop over to Small World, since the line is small. I say it is always a short line, but he doesn't listen. So we go. He hates it. (Serves him right!!). Brenne sings through the whole ride though. I video most of it for her to watch at home. Neth is busy looking for hidden Mickey's in the ride. When we get off, Jason says he would hate to be stuck on that ride! Brenne wants to do Peter Pan, the line is longer, but I take her anyway. Neth doesn't want to go. Instead when we get off, he complains about how hot it is. Now then, if he had ridden again, he would have been in air conditioning, but the lesson escapes him. We walk over to Winnie the Pooh, but it is not open, so we go to Snow White's Scary Adventures. I warn Brenne that it is a little scary because the witch is in it several times. We get her tigger light out and she squeezes him for reassurance. I find the hidden Mickey in the entrance.....and the woman behind me pushes me as I try and take a picture of it. We board our mine car and away we go. The ride basically retells the story quickly and ends with the happily ever after. Brenne squeezed tigger a bit.
We hop over and ride the Carousel. Brenne gets her own horse. She loves Carousels.
Even Neth rides this time. (Although he slaps the horses rear the whole ride.....boys!)
Off to Toontown. We skip the Mad Tea Party!
Jason spies Goofy's Barnstormer and drags us in that direction. There is only a five minute wait for the coaster. Jas and Neth get the front seat. I put my arm around Brenne the daredevil, who throws her arms into the air as we go up the lifthill. Cute. The queue is themed well too. Second time through we looked to see how his gardens grew: popcorn, bell peppers, squash. All literal. Add some squawking chickens in the barn........
From here we headed across the street to Minnies Country House. The girl did not have AC. Everyone was commenting on the lack of air conditioning.
Minnie is quite the accomplished artist, quilter, gardener. In fact, she seems to be good at everything. In her kitchen the kids had a blast. Turn on the stove and a cake will bake. The microwave and popcorn will pop. Open the fridge.
Neth enjoyed her flowers.
Next we went to the Judges Tent, where we met Tigger, Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh. What fun characters! TIgger bouncing up and down. Eeyore all sad. And winnie the pooh kept kissing Brenne and me, blowing us kisses, bowing to us. She loved it. She said he treated her like a princess.
We walked in to Mickey's house. Wow. He needs a housekeeper. Neth really liked this because Mickey is his favorite. His bedroom had all his outfits laid out, matching shoes, gloves, etc. He has his own gameroom with a ping pong table and checkers.
We left and boarded the train to Frontierland. It was really hot out.
Brenne likes trains, so she enjoyed the train ride.
We got off the train at the Frontierland station, and walked over to see what the wait was for Splash Mountain. Over an hour. So we decided to Fastpass it and eat lunch. We got FP and walked over to Pecos Bills. Even though the lines to order were not long, there were no tables to be found. Brenne and I went looking for one. We circled like hawks, then Brenne started crying because she wanted to sit down. The only tables I found were in a separate room upstairs, and I had to wait because Jason would never have found us in there had I gone ahead. So I stood there with a crying four year old and people staring at us, castmembers coming by to ask what was wrong. I felt terrible for her.
They finally made it over to us and we went upstairs and sat down. Nice, uncrowded, dark, air conditioned quiet. Jason and Neth had cheeseburgers and fries, I had a chicken salad. The food here is pretty good for counter service. The salad was huge, easily big enough for two and had a honey lime vinaigrette on it. I ate about half of it. Brenne won't eat anything. We figure she is still a little freaked about breakfast..... As we finish up, the skies open up and it poors. No Splash Mountain today. Neth is very disappointed. Instead we go do Pirates of the Caribbean, with Brenne holding her Tigger light. She is scared. But she makes it through and even manages to find the hairy leg. She won't go on again, so we hustle over to the Enchanted Tiki Room. Everyone is escaping the rain by watching this show. We sit in the last row by ourselves and get a great view. From back here, you can see everything. Brenne sees the "windows" and exclaims that it "sure did get dark outside!" We really like this show, Brenne and I didn't see it last time. It is funny, and if you stay a little long at the end, you get some extra entertainment as people are leaving. Iago is a hoot!
People are huddled under the exit roof because of the rain and the CMs are trying to tell them they can't stay there, it is an emergency exit. Nobody is listening. We have our ponchos on, so we stomp out into the rain. I point out the jewels in the ground to Brenne, who in turn points them out to Bubby.
We pass Aloha Isle and I decide we should have Dole Whips, since we are right there. We all get a Dole Whip Float, which is essentially heaven in a cup. Sorry, soft serve pineapple with pineapple juice. Yummy.....
We decide to go back to the resort. We get our hands stamped in case we return, then head to the monorail. After a short wait, we board a train and soon are pulling into the Contemporary.
I get a drink from the Food and Fun Center and we go to our room. We rest a bit. Then, Jason decides to go ahead and get the Family Boat Plan from the marina. $200 for the length of stay---until we leave on the 24th---for up to five drivers in boats. We decide it is worth it. Turns out it is. When I did an aproximate calculation of boat usage at the end of our stay, we saved around $300. At least! I stay in the room for a while and he takes the kids out in a canopy boat. When Brenne gets fussy, he brings her in then takes Neth out in a Watermouse.
Once they are done on the lake, he doesn't want to go back to MK for dinner and fireworks. He wants a sit down dinner. So I offer suggestions, and then call for a PS. We head over to the Wilderness Lodge around 7:30 via ferry boat. We are eating at Whispering Canyon Cafe, a misnomer! Nothing quiet about this restaurant. But it is fun. We have a great server, Mystery Man. Jason, Neth and I all get the all-you-can-eat skillet, which has bbq ribs, pork, chicken, sausage, beef, seared potatoes, corn on the cob, beans, cornbread, salad. The food is very good. I normally don't care too much for pork or sausage, but I asked for seconds here. If you eat here, be careful what you ask for. This is an audience participation kind of place! Ask for a large drink, you will get a LARGE drink. Lots of singing, dancing(yes, Jason and I both did the hokey pokey!), pony races for the kids. Brenne participated in the pony ride and got a certificate. She ordered mac and cheese, didn't eat really any of it.
However, she did fall asleep and almost fell into it. She was very entertaining to several tables around us. Her head was bobbing up and down, back and forth. Another server saw her predicament, ran and got her another chair, placed it up beside her, laid her down, then went out of the restaurant and got her a blanket from the front desk. He covered her up and we, including our neighboring tables, gave him a round of applause, including many thank yous, and "that was awesome, incredible." from the table next to us. THAT is what Disney is about. That is why we enjoy going. They have the nicest staff, who always go the extra step.
While she slept, we ordered a dessert to share, not really sure if we would have room! But, Neth chose the Banana Dustbowl. Cinnomen suger dusted flour tortilla bowl filled with vanilla haagen das, then covered in banana slices and hot caramel. Delicious!!!!
Brenne managed to stay asleep, even when Jason sat her down in the lobby. I got a great pic of her sleep walking, fortunately Jason took pity on her and picked her up again.
We had a lot of fun here. The Lodge is beautiful, inside and out. Jason loves this resort. I love this resort.
Brenne is still asleep as we look around at everything.
She does wake up when we head back to catch the ferry boat to the Contemporary. The Electrical Water Pageant is coming by and we catch the tail end of it. Then we board our boat. Once back at our room, everyone decides to go swimming again.
I try the waterslide tonight. As luck would have it, just as I am about to go down, the power goes out. The lifeguards spring into action. I had just been talking to the lifeguard for the slide about irresponsible parents! She told me that a lot, a lot!, of parents just drop their young (6, 7,8, up through teens) children off at the pool and leave them all day! These parents expect the lifeguards to also do babysitting duty. There was a young girl, she couldn't have been more than 6, in the pool with her brother, maybe 8, who had been rescued twice that day and still the girl kept going off the slide, jumping in the pool and it was obvious to me too that she could not swim. It was 11 at night and the parents still had not shown up! Unbelievable. Anyway. Power went out. And the lifeguards were going to clear the pool for the safety of the guests, but have everyone sit down so noone got hurt walking in the dark. But the power came back up. All was well. And I went down the really great slide.
And it is off to bed. My brother Jimmie was supposed to be in tonight, but he missed his flight, so we are rearranging tomorrows schedule.
