We're considering these resorts for our trip next year. Anyone have an opinion about the food courts at these 2 resorts? I also added a poll! :)

CSR has a food court called the Pepper Market. It has a wide variety of options including steak, pasta, a wok area, deli, soup and Mexican. You do have to pay an automatic 10% gratuity to eat inside, you can request a to go order and eat outside and avoid the 10% gratuity. The food is very good. They also have Siesta's out by the main pool and that is mostly quick serve type stuff (hot dogs, wrap, burger stuff like that). Then there is Cafe Rix which has some sandwiches, and salads and panninis. The full service place is Maya Grill which is pretty pricey but I thought it was very good. And last but not least CSR has room service and is the only moderate to offer that. Pepper Market, Cafe Rix and Maya Grill all serve breakfast.

CBR has a much more standard food court. They have several stations, and its your basic food court fare. They have burger station, pizza and pasta station a grill area and a grab and go area that has sandwiches and other ready made items. CBR also has Shutters for their full service restaurant, we enjoyed dinner there one night, its sort of pricey like Maya Grill and I thought it was better than Maya Grill. CBR has pizza delivery service to the room but no room service like CSR does. The food court also serves breakfast. Shutters does not.

So CSR has a lot more (way more) in the way of choices but if you just need a quick burger or breakfast the food court at CBR is great. If I was going to eat a lot of my meals at my resort, I'd pick CSR. Its a convention resort so many of their guests do stay right there for days on end so they need lots of choices. But again, the food court at CBR was very good for our needs and I did think thier full service restaurant was better than CSR's.

If you go to www.allearsnet.com and click on dining, you can see a full menu for every restaurant at WDW, including the ones I mentioned above to give you an idea of pricing and what they all have on their menus.

We actually don't stay at CSR b/c of the way their foodcourt is. I like the selections at CBR so we love that food court. I'm not into paying 10% gratuity at a foodcourt b/c someone fills my drink. I can do that myself. It's just my little way of protesting that they charge a gratuity in the first place.

I had no idea this 10% charge existed there! Is this the only resort they do this at? And if so, why only at CSR?

I've stayed at both CSR and CBR and have to say that by far CSR's food court is the best. My DH and I love the Pepper Market. We've eaten there at least 8 times. I love the large selection of food that they have to offer. You can get salads, sandwiches, Italian, Mexican, food off the grill, etc. I've never had anything I didn't like. They have large portions too.

CBR as Amy&Dan mentioned is much more of your standard food court. I find it to not have an appealing selection. I like more variety.

Since CSR has a convention center...maybe the 10% gratuity fee is only applied for them? Why does CSR care if you eat inside or outside?

If you're on the DDP, the 10% gratuity is covered under the plan at the Pepper Market. You won't have to pay the 10% gratuity out-of-pocket.

If you're not on the DDP, then you will have to pay the additional 10% gratuity.

I think the gratuity is for a hostess seating you, taking your drink orders, and bringing everyone their drinks......kinda the same thing they do at Boma and other buffets, only the Pepper Market isn't a buffet.

If you get a to-go order, no one is seating you and fetching your drinks, so you don't have to pay a gratuity.

The Pepper Market is owned by an outside Vendor--NOT Disney. That could be the reason for the 10%. As previously posted, it is paid for on the dining plan. And, if not on dining plan, you can avoid it by getting a "to go" ticket.

That being said, back to the original question, we definitely prefer CSR's food court (Pepper Market) over the Carribbean. There are a lot of choices at CSR--pasta, steak, etc., that you will not get at any other "food court" and we have always had terrific meals. When we went to explore the Carribbean to consider staying there on a future trip, we stopped at their food court at 1:00 in the afternoon. There were only two stations open and my cheeseburger tasted like it had been sitting at McDonald's for two days. That and the themeing of the CAR turned us off.

We love CSR's Pepper Market. The choices are great! We are planning to go there again in a couple of weeks because it has been awhile and we like the options for dinner. We have eaten at the CBR food court and it is ok. My DS likes the Mickey waffles at CBR, but now you can get them elsewhere.

As far as the resorts go, we like CSR better. It may be better once the pool area at CBR opens because the pool was much smaller before. CSR is also gorgeous at night. The rooms are about the same at both and both are big resorts. We had much better bus service at CSR as well.

Either one will be great and have a wonderful trip!

I've never been to CBR, but we absolutely hated CSR's Pepper Market.
They were utterly clueless when I tried to get food to accomodate my son's food allergies and were rude about it - especially the manager.
We found the entire set-up to be confusing and no one helped us out, the person who sat us at a table disappeared and didn't give us any insight into how the place worked and did not get our drinks.

I have not eaten at the food court at CBR but I have to say that pepper market is great. The main advantage is that it's right at your resort, but there are still a lot of choices so you can have whatever you feel like.

(The pool at Coronado also is great. I'm sad to say that it is far better than the pool at the Poly, my fave resort, and there are also smaller, quiter pools at Coronado.)

CSR = fresher, more choices, and it is a pleasure to eat at. Nothing confusing about it. The CBR food court is not as fresh and there is little to no variation on orders.
