We're thinking of the WL for our December 05 stay - we've stayed here twice and loved it. Once we were in a Courtyard view the other time we booked a STD but were upgraded to a woods view at no charge.

I'm thinking of booking a STD view next year - in case we don't get upgraded are are given a STD view I'd like to hear what are is the worst case scenario and what is the best case scenario for a view in this category?

In May we booked a STD room at Passholder discount rate on a 5 night, no kids break (thanks to my mom-in-law, what a great lady). Without kids, we were not so particular on the view. But at check-in, the CM said how nice it was to "get away by yourselves". She gave us a slight upgrade to a woods view King room, but the location proved to be the best part. It was ground floor, adjacent to the quiet pool at the Villas, but also a short "hop" to the main pool and Trout Pass Pool bar where we love to go. The bed was great, and we liked the little patio to sit and watch the bunnies.

On another earlier trip we took the kids and requested a view of the Otter Pond with bunkbeds, and this worked out perfectly as well.

We went down for a long weekend in November. We had a standard view room. The resort was booked, so we were unable to get an upgrade, but I got the most bang for my buck!!! We were in room 5062. We walked out on the balcony and there was the Contemporary, the monorail, and Cinderella's Castle. You had to peer thru the trees a bit to see the castle, but it was there. We were able to watch Wishes one night from our balcony. This was such a good deal!!!:)

I just returned from Wilderness Lodge. I booked a standard room, and when checking in, I was given I guess an "upgrade" to woods view - I got literally the closest room to Roaring Forks and the lower floor elevators, on the 1st floor. I had a king bed and patio, with a pond right outside. Through the trees I could see the monorail, Contemporary, and boats going by.

At first, I hated the view! I rather have a view with more people traffic and be less isolating, and I prefer a balcony. Also I was solo in my room, and my room was ground floor near that pond and a loading dock, too. Ugh. Not great for a solo female. But the room grew on me, especially when I realized I could see the fireworks from my patio, and I literally was steps from Roaring Forks, and a tiny walk to the pool and lobby. I guess this was a woods view room, but next time I will pay for courtyard since I think my heart really wanted that! :)
