Laser printers are awesome, but we still use an old HP inkjet. We keep finding ink for it and it's cheaper than replacing it for the moment. My aunt has a lexmark, and it always says she needs to replace the ink when it's still half full. I also haven't been able to find a driver for it for windows 7.
Look at ebay as well for the Brother printers. The lifespan on a laser printer is significantly longer, so look at the page count if you purchase a used unit. Always make sure you buy a brand that keeps up with the product. HP is good about supporting old products, and even when HP stops, there's enough users to create new drivers. This printer was made for Windows 2000 and XP, and there's drivers for windows 8
