has anyone stayed at the Best Weatern LBV (near DTD) recently and can tell me about their Disney transportation?

I has an accident recently and will be in need of an ECV during the trip. We wanted to stay at a friend's timeshare but now can't because it's not handicapped accessible and lacks appropriate transportation. I was wondering if BW can accommodate ECvs on their transportation? I have emailed the hotel but I only received general information that they have a shuttle that runs very frequently.

We have looked into staying on-site because of the ECV issue but due to all the extra expenses my accident has brought about, we are not sure we can afford to stay on-site. At BW we could use points from our friends.

We're also open to other suggestions if the place offers transportation to WDW that can accommodate an ECV. We are not able to get a rental as we won't be able to store an ECV in a car (it's me, my mom and DS12, DS7 and DD2).

I would call the hotel directly. We have enjoyed a few stays there. But used are own car.

We're living overseas and don't have international calling available. Hence I emailed. I was hoping someone had some insight on this.

Yes. The buses that operate and take you to and from the park from the Best Western LBV can accommodate ECV's. I see them loading and unloading them all the time. They have a platform that comes out from the steps and they have a row of seats that flip up and the ECV goes there and is strapped down. You will not have any issues. Enjoy your trip!

Thank you sooooo much for that answer! I've been trying to contact 4 of the DTD hotels for that info and either they told me irrelevant info or never replied. Much relieved now!

I'm 100% certain that DrivenByDisney's post is correct. But, if you want to double (or would that be triple) check, you can direct your question to marketing association for the Downtown Disney Hotels. They have a Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/DtnDisneyHotels

Wrote them on Facebook right after your post. So far no reply either. I am jinxed XD

No, seriously, I haven't heard back from any of the hotels in almost two weeks.... We're still considering staying at either the BW ot the B Palace across the street though. I just hope their on location customer service is better than their email CS.

Generally speaking, hotels tend to avoid email. They don't want people thinking they can cancel their reservations just by sending an email. That said, no response for two weeks is not good.

I did notice that the DT Disney Facebook page had about a 3-day response time for the questions that were posted previously.

The other option is to contact Mears Transportation. I'm 99% certain that Mears is the company that operates the Downtown Disney Hotels buses. Try using the form on their Customer Feedback webpage: http://www.mearstransportation.com/customer-feedback/

I'm certain that the buses will accommodate an ECV. But, I understand wanting to get an official confirmation on that information.

Mears does operate the transportation system for the DTD hotels properties, all of them. I know 100% for a fact they can take ECV's on their buses, I see it all the time. The good thing about the Best Western is that they are the first to picked up on the "B" side of the route which means you should have an "easier" time of getting an ECV on to the coach.

You are also the first one dropped off coming back from the parks as well. The B Buss runs to the Best Western, Wyndham LBV and Buena Vista Palace in that order.

I also agree that reaching out via social media is your best bet. I know those properties Facebook page is updated regularly and they respond to fans questions, comments, etc.

Writerguyfl, supervising CS is what I do at work. Sometimes I cannot believe what people actually try to do via email. It just floors me how some people think all correspondance can be done via email. No matter what though, I think every inquiry needs to be answered in a timely fashion, and whether it may be with a simple "I am sorry we cannot answer this by email, please give us a call". Ignoring a customer is a big no no.

DrivenyByDisney, wow, thank you for the inside on the bus route! Getting on the bus first certainly will be a big plus. I was 95% sure before that we'd stay at the BW - the other 5% were trying to see if we could afford one of the All-Stars instead. But I think we'll rather stay at the BW now and save the extra money for some special Disney treats like maybe a character breakfast or such.

Just replying to my own thread to let you know that to this date I still have not heard back from any inquiries I made, whether via direct email, contact form or FB. I had a friend call the BW twice and every time she was told that they had buses but they weren't sure about the ECV. They'd take down her number and tell her someone would call back - never happened. I wonder if I should reach out to BW in general about this? It's really not good customer service.

That's sad. It really shouldn't be difficult to get official confirmation about something rather basic as hotel-provided transportation.

I'll be at the DoubleTree Suites next week starting Tuesday. (If you're unfamiliar, that's the hotel across the street from the Best Western. It uses the same bus system...although on the "other" line.) I'll be glad to ask the bus driver to confirm that all of their buses accommodate ECVs.

Oh that would be so awesome if could ask. If they use the same buses that Disney tranportation does (I think I remember the last time we went they did), I don't think it'll be an issue. I also don't doubt that DrivenbyDisney's is correct. I just find it odd that the hotel doesn't reply or doesn't seem to know so I am wondering that while the buses may be able to accommodate them, they don't use them for liability issues maybe and offer alternate transportation? That was the only thing my friend could think of why it's so difficult to get any official info.

I'll ask when I get there next week. If I had to guess, I'd say that the person with which your friend spoke to didn't really know the answer and she or he was too lazy to find out the real answer.

The Downtown Disney buses are operated by Mears Transportation. I've never looked too closely, but they weren't exactly the same as Disney Transportation. That's not a negative thing, however. Disney has partnered with Mears for many, many years. Mears operates Magical Express and (I think) Disney Cruise Line buses to the port.

Greetings from a rainy WDW. I just spoke with a Downtown Disney Hotels bus driver. He confirmed that all shuttle buses can accommodate ECVs.

Thank you soooooo much for that info! It has put my mind at ease now - and my boys' as they had volunteered all their Christmas and birthday money so we could stay at a hotel with the appropriate transportation for me. Now I can tell them not to worry about it!

Have a fun stay at WDW!!
