Best Western Diamond - Has anyone gotten upgrade at BWPPI?

If you have Diamond status with Best Western and have stayed at Best Western Park Place Inn (BWPPI), have you received your upgraded room? We did not get it this trip despite there being obvious vacancies, and I'm wondering if this property (or Anaheim Inn) ever honors the Diamond benefits?

I'm curious about what you mean by an "upgraded room". Whenever I've booked with BWPPI the choices have usually been a regular room or a mini-suite. Are there any other types of rooms at BWPPI? I'm not a Diamond Member, so it never even crossed my mind, but you've got me curious about what would be considered the "best" rooms at BWPPI.

I did see in the fine print that "specialty rooms or suites may not qualify for room upgrades (applicable for hotels in U.S. and Canada only)", so perhaps BWPPI consider the mini-suites, suites for the purposes of the membership benefits?
