Since this Summer in WDW we have DDP I would like to ask, what is your favourite counter service and/or table service restaurants?

TS - California Grill, CS - Lotus Blossom Cafe.......enjoy!

Totally not possible to know by asking here.
Your first reponse rates Cali Grill best, we rate it our worst meal onsite, we will never go back.
Our list in post #50 what we are doing this year http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2862163&page=4

Consistantly good I would say Grand Floridian Cafe but there are so many different themes, I couldn't say one is the best. Teppan Edo is something different, so good we went back a few nights later to do it again. Sanaa was excellent food, service and view of animals, Raglan road just for the bread and butter pud.

Counter service Wolfgang Puck express.

read the menus and choose food you like not what others like.

Favorite Resturants on DDP.....

1900 Park Fare
Chef Mickeys
Ohana
Cape May Cafe
Via Napoli
Rainforest Cafe
T-Rex
Liberty Tree Tavern
The Plaza Resturant
Tusker House Resturant

Counter-Service

All of the Value Resorts Food Courts
Starring Rolls Cafe
Main Street Bakery
Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe

These are some that I like that are on the DDP..Hope it helps

I agree with Wayne - you simply can't judge on the preferences of others. We've never had a bad meal at California Grill, but have been spectacularly underwhelmed by both our visits to Grand Floridian Cafe! (Wayne, you have to give something a second chance to have a valid opinion ;) - although I'll admit that we'll never return to Pizzafari.)

Seriously, we'd need to know your party make-up and an idea of the kind of thing you like to properly answer your question. After 20 years of visiting WDW we now visit without kids and our tastes have evolved, but we still enjoy a wide variety of dining experiences. To answer your question as set, I'd probably say Victoria and Albert's, but it's not for everyone by any stretch of the imagination.

This all comes down to your taste preferences really...and also can vary from one year to the next. For a couple of years we LOVED Boma's then something changed and we HATE it there now. Others will still love it..The same thing happened with the SCI-FI diner, loved it on a couple of occasions then last time thought it was dreadful and prob won't go back..
At the moment we like Jiko's as a TS and Port Orleans Riverside CS..this also could change come the next trip!! ;)
Its just one of those things you have to find out yourselves, you might go to Boma's and Sci-Fi and wonder why on earth I don't rate them!!!:)

I would give it another chance if had been something like poor service but it was everything, late seating, tiny portions(ok give me small steak but fill me up with veg at least) really bad server, freezing cold, over 2 hours for 2 courses(when we asked for it ASAP)
I just don't think we will ever appreciate Signature meals.
Seen pics and clips of V&A and I am almost certain we wouldn't enjoy there but others love it.

Quite a few meals we have really enjoyed then gone back the following year and not enjoyed half as much, Boma, Tutto Italia, Le Cellier & a few others. Its all down to the server, where you are sat in the restaurant, food you are served, your own mood, you can go 2 nights running and have totally different experiences. Maybe we will try Cali grill again one day:rotfl2:

I have always loved Rainforest Cafe. It has a huge and varied menu but the portions are HUGE. The theming and atmosphere are just awesome and kids love it.

Another good themed restaurant is 50s Prime Time - although since the introduction of the DDP, it's been a bit hit and miss. Sometimes you miss the "experience" by being herded through like cattle. If you get a good server though, it's awesome!

I like Portabello for an adult, laid back dining experience. Their slow baked garlic in French bread is lovely.

For something more adult and more along the fine dining avenue, we are trying Bluezoo as we've heard great things about it.

Our favourite TS restaurants are :~

Teppan Edo
Tutto Italia
Chef Mickeys

Our favourite CS restaurants are :~

Cosmic Rays
The food court at the Pop Century
Yakatori House (now Katsura Grill)

We are on the DDP and going for the first time. I have made a provisional list based on menus/recommendations/reviews and 'gut' instinct ;):

Crystal Palace (breakfast)
Le Cellier (lunch)
Olivia's
Saana
Whispering Canyon
Hoop de Doo (2 credits)
Mama Melrose
Akershus
1900 Park Fare
Rose and Crown
Beaches and Cream
Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare (breakfast)

How I decided:

I have 3 daughters, so Akershus is a 'must do' for us. I want the 'experience' of 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace,Chef Mickeys, Hoop de Doo and Whispering Canyon. I want to begin and end the holiday with a character breakfast. The menu sounds good at Saana. One of my girls is called Olivia and we are staying at OKW, hence Olivia's. Mama Melrose for Fantasmic, Rose and Crown for Illuminations. Le Cellier because it is 1 credit for a signature restaurant and Beaches and Cream because of the Kitchen Sink.:goodvibes

My plans might change.:confused3
Hope that helps.

Have you been able to book Narcosossee for august yet Nige, we still keep getting nothing available, What are you doing on here anyway havent you got kids to be looking after :rotfl2:

As Wayne and others have said its all hit and miss, our first year on ddp we loved cali grill and it was first on our list for the following year, however the last twice we have been not at all impressed and we have missed it of our list for this year. We always enjoy Kona Cafe, but i know Wayne had a nightmare there last year - maybe Waynes just to fussy :rotfl2:

Unable to try for Narcoossee yet as it is our not until our last night.

Kids very quiet :yay:.............mind you, that mountain of washing up is very high and they are still trying to find the hidden Mickey's in the bubbles :rotfl:

Pick restaurants based on food you like or would like to try.

We have found consistently good service and food from the Turf Club at SSR. 4 visits over 4 years - only thing is their desserts are not the best however I am usually too full to care! :rotfl:
