We are getting a transfer with bs on arrival as there are 6 of us but coming back only 4. I was thinking of getting the train. our flight goes at 18.00 and our seats are booked so only need to check in between 1-2 hrs. We go from terminal 1 but i'm worried about getting from train to check in, any advuse? Would it be easier to do the vea? I was worried it might be rush hour then though? Also how expensive is the train (2 adults, a 2 and 3 year old)? Thanks:thumbsup2

I can't get a price up on the TGV site for 20th Sept, but I did it for your family for 27th (so should be around the same prices).

I don't know if the link will work, but the prices go from £17 total price for your family for the journey, to £35 total price, depending on which train you get (I searched for trains from 3pm onwards). Your 3-year old goes free on the TGV, as well as your 2-year old.

I personally think that the VEA would be a better option for you - because of the ages of your children it will be less hassle. You get on the VEA outside your hotel, and then off outside Terminal 1. The TGV may be a bit quicker, but the journey will involve three different stages - hotel shuttle to station, train journey and then the CDGVAL to Terminal 1.

Having just seen Elaine's post, I thought I'd better check the VEA prices. It's currently 16 euros for adults and 13 euros for children 3-11. So not much difference in price - possibly a little cheaper.

I would agree with Bexx post - the VEA may take a bit more time on the journey, and you may have to leave the resort a little earlier with it, but with the ages of your children, and your luggage, the VEA will be easier to do than the TGV.

I found the TGV to be very easy to use. It would also be the cheapest option for you. Getting to your terminal in the airport is very simple as it's all clearly signposted. There is a shuttle between terminals so it's also quick.

You can pre-book tickets on the rail europe site or just turn up on the day and buy them from the TGV ticket office (the staff all speak English). There is a huge board that tells you which platform to get the train from and from my experience they have always been on time.

think we are getting tgv back from dlp to cdg now, cant believe how quick it is and it is working out 15 euros cheaper than vea. what a rush to travel at 320 miles an hour or whatever it is too!

Also means a bit more time in the parks, as usually we drop our luggage at the hotel baggagerie (?) then go to the parks, then leave an good hour before the vea is expected to get back to the hotel for bags and a freshen up.

with the tgv, we're taking our bags to the baggagerie beside the DLH in the morning, enjoying nearly a full day in the park, picking our bags up on the way out, going to the station and 10 minutes later we're at the airport!

:) Thanks for your replies, so it's less time in park and less hassle or more time in park and more hassle!! What's a girl to do, better ask hubbie who has the shorter fuse than me so amy opt for the less hassle option!

The TGV times that would suit your departure times, allowing a good half an hour to get to Terminal 1, would be 3.30pm or (if you don't mind cutting it fine) 4.30 pm. The VEA times, allowing an hour for the journey, would be 2.55 or 3.40 (from the Santa Fe - is that right?) Very little difference :)

It's just occurred to me that you will probably leave the park and head back to the hotel for your luggage. With the TGV you will then have to get back to the station, but with the VEA you just have to walk outside to the shuttle stop.
