Best way to stretch 100 Points at BLT?

I also work in education, so I can understand the frustration of peak times, though I'm not a teacher, so I can take off time during the school year, as need be, which helps. I also try to stay Sun-Thurs! Definitely a point saver!

Feel free to forward my blog to whomever you like. It's there for anyone to read. I really wanted to share my experiences and photos b/c I know how difficult it can be not knowing what to expect! I hope it is helpful! Enjoy :thumbsup2
Thanks a bunch!!!

I am definitely thinking about it. Do you think they would allow me to switch to another complex they are not selling now such as SSR? Just a thought.

Yes. If you are unsure that BLT is for you because you want a booking advantage at someplace like AKV, etc., give your guide a call and talk about your options.

Disney is pretty good about allowing you to make changes as long as your contract has not closed.

By Florida law, you have 10 days to rescind the deal from the time you sign so it can't close before then.

If the contract has already closed, there won't be anything they can do, but it is certainly something to find out. My guide was able to pull our contracts right before closing so we could make the changes we wanted.

Good luck!!!

I don't suppose either of you have the room numbers for the value studios at AKV that had those great views.

Thanks

It doesn't really matter as you can't make requests with the value studios anymore.

This just began a few months back. At the 7 month mark, you are allowed to buy up to 24 one use points to complete a reservation. They are $15 each.

So, say you decide to go next summer and need 120 points for your reservation. You book what you can at 11 months and then call back at 7 months and extend your trip by buying those extra 20 points. It would cost you $300.

The drawback is that the room still needs to be available. With BLT, this might be tough if you originally book SV rooms to conserve points. I don't think it would be as difficult with LV rooms.

However, these are one use points and the way I understand it, they are only for that particular reservation. If you had to cancel or change that reservation, those points are lost and can not be used again.

Actually, I just made a reservation using these one time points the other day and you're off just a little. If you cancel the reservation, you still have the points you bought but they must be used in the use year for which you purchased them to be used in the original booking. You can't bank or borrow them but you could still get another ressie if you cancel far enough in advance and have time left in that use year. I only had 3 points left in this use year and we found we could be at WDW for one night only after our cruise in Feb. but I needed 14 more points. I bought those and made the ressie but if I need to cancel it, I have to use those 14 points only before my use year turns over. This is what I was told by MS and have read in more than one place.

We own at BLT also, but have yet to stay there because we had trouble getting a reservation. My suggestion would be to reserve the SV rooms to save on points. I figure we can go up to the TOTWL to view the fireworks, so why waste points on a MK view? For us, the location is what is important, being so close to MK.

I like the idea of these value rooms at AKV too. We will probably add on in the next year. It will be hard to decide on AKV vs a more economical choice in an SSR resale. We'll see. Congrats on your purchase! Have fun calculating the points.:)

ETA- We stay at Disney on weekdays as much as possible too. It will be harder when the kids are older and they are in grade school. Right now I don't mind pulling them out of preschool for a WDW trip. :)

Thanks for clearing that point up. That is good to know

Ours was 5112, second room on the right on Ostrich trail.

The only request I put in was "Close to Lobby" and I think this kind of request they still take, even for the Value category. Looking at the room map, the value studios closest to the lobby are either savannah or pool view, the standard (parking) view values are a bit further down Ostrich trail, so with this request you probably have about a 50:50 chance of getting either savannah or pool view.

I bought 100 points at BLT because I wanted to be able to book a SV studio in September.

I use my other small contract to book a studio at other resorts in January at the 7-month mark.
