We are going to DL on Sunday    . In our group, we will have 6 adults, 2 teenagers, and 3 young children. I am preggo, and based on that and the group dynamic, I'm sure that the larger group will branch off into smaller groups to go on different rides, see different things, etc...

What is the best way to stay in touch/in contact with other members of your party? Do cell phones work good there?

TIA!

Yes, cell phones are the most reliable. Always have full bars in the parks.

I would suggest picking a time and place to meet and making sure everyone is equipped with watches. Maybe meet every couple of hours to check up and see what is going on. Find a centralized place that is easy to recognize so that everyone in your group can easily meet. Also, allow for some time for everyone to gather...10-20 mins seeing as how some people could still be on rides or close to getting on rides.

The cell phone idea is great too but I know that I wouldn't be able to do that since I'm from Canada and it costs an arm and a leg to use my cell anywhere in the states.

Our last 2 trips have been where the inlaws took the whole family, first time was 14 of us, and the second time was 16 of us. The best way to stay in touch was for us to use FRS radios (make sure you have ones with Sub channels) we picked them up here in Canada for about $40 bucks a pair (we had some as well from hunting) just set it to a channel and your laughing most have 2 mile or better range. We made sure each sub group, usually 3-4 in a group had a radio and we were off. Hope that helps

We have used cell phones when we have been in the parks with large groups of people. It usually works really well. Unless someone is on a ride. ;) One thing I would recommend is to have a touring plan for your small group. That way you don't miss out on anything you want to do (like we have). We went in March with a large group and didn't have a plan and felt like we missed out on some things we really wanted to do. We are going with almost the same group in Dec. and have decided that we will definitely have our own "family" plan and anyone in the rest of the group that wants to join us is welcome.

This way my little kids don't feel like they missed any of the rides that they really wanted to ride, so the bigger kids could ride what they wanted. And of course, anyone in our group that wants to come along is welcome!!

Can you tell I am a little OCD??! :confused3

We've used cell phones before, but we also used some great walkie-talkies. It saved on the minutes and was direct. Also - every "group" with a walkie heard your message; you didn't have call every single group on the phone.
